  1. So basically it is Thales TopSight. Is Samtel-Thales producing it under licence or they are just importing and marketing it.

  2. This is freaking joke.. In the modern era where battles are fought in the night, we are not even providing our timely defenders with HMS/D that have built in Night Vision Technology… the Indian version has a "night vision growth potential," however why field an equipment, when you know that night vision is imminent for our pilots???
JAI HOO the indian govt. Bloody crooks!

  3. What a con-jon!!!

France Thales helmet manufactured, make it assembled, in India becomes, what??? SELF RELIANCE!!

Then so many other, like SU-30 jaguar aircraft self reliant…..no need for me too conjob of Lost Cause Aircraft-LCA,

    WHAY SAY??

  4. Foreign made and designed? Hows it Indian? No one says the Type 59 tank is totally Chinese, despite everything on it is made in China. Its is still Russian design. Same applies to helmet.

Again how can a licensed project made abroad and licensed be called Indian.

  5. Well, I've read other articles published when Samtel Thales JV was announced. Plus, I also saw the mock-up of the HMD at their booth at Aero India. It is a totally Indian product, made in India for IAF. Thales is providing the technology for it. It will be made at their facility in Ghaziabad… or Noida… I don't remember clearly.

  6. Maybe the Topsight HMD would be used to replace the Sura-K HMD on the MiG-29s and Su-30MKIs in the future, and have PNVG capability. Will it?
