  1. "On its flight to India"? Fascinating that the IAF managed to position a RusAF IL78 with an UPAZ pod en route between Ben Gurion and Agra ! 🙂

  2. Hi Shiv, Are you sure that the photos were taken on the flight back to India ? The first photo shows a Russian refueling aircraft.
    Anyway great pics.

  3. these are the totally new airframes and lot more work has been done on these airframes compared to older A50 airframes, i mean when comparing aircraft availability of these new AEW with older A50 which chinese have one might guess which one is better

  4. Me thinks that since the order for these awacs include airframe from russia and radar from israel, both russia and israel has equal responsibility to deliver these to India. Hence the RuAF IL-78 refueling IAF' Awacs.

Now, my doubt is, why did this beast need a refuelling? This is very big aircraft, can't it carry enough fuel to reach India from Israel?

  5. This has to have been a practice run becausr the a/c are flying over land. I don't think any country in that area would allow an Indian AWACS plane to fly over it's territory. Remember, the plane was to touchdown in Gujrat.
