Arjun Roars!

Arjun main battle tanks of the Indian Army’s 43rd Regiment in Rajasthan. Ignore CVRDE’s totally unnecessary photoshopping! The original un-photoshopped version will be the lead photograph in India Today associate editor Sandeep Unnithan’s piece on DRDO in the upcoming issue of the magazine.

  1. Just a picture of a squadron of tanks would have been good enough. This one is clearly photoshopped. Shouldn't be on the India Today cover ideally speaking.

  2. I feel so bad that we are unable to build a totally indigenous tank, plane, ships.
Arjun is powered by German Engines,
    LCA Tejas by American engines,
    INS Shivalik by American engines,
even the Surya Kiran aeorbatic team uses foreign engines!
How I wish the Kaveri was succesful!

  3. Horrible photoshopping.
That one group of 18 tanks have been adjusted so that they are now three groups.

This is one way to add numbers to the IA fleet, because the army sure is not ordering any more than the next batch of 124.

The T-90 which got defeated in the trials, is India's MBT, while the Arjun which won gets only 248 orders?

DRDO and HVF should sell the arjun to the Pakistanis. Only then will the IA start sweating.

  4. No need of any photoshop job. Even a single Arjun itself is beautiful. But I do wish to see the sight of 248 Arjun tanks supported by IFV and infantry moving as a whole. That will be a sight to see. The enemy will shiver at the thought of that.

  5. People, atleast read whats been written! The author clearly says this photo is editted, so does the first comment.

  6. Primary responsibility for development of the EW suite is that of the Defence Avionics Research Establishment (DARE), Bangalore.but recently (DARE) has entered a joint venture with israeli aircraft industry (IAI) for development of EW suite called " Mayavi " an ancient sanskrit word ,which (IAI) will intergrate it with Jsf F-35 and (DARE) in lca-tejas

    http://www.lca-tejas.org/avionics.html

plz make a report on Mayavi

  7. FOR THE PAST FEW DAYS I HAVE BEEN GETTING A FEELING THAT SCHEMA IS GOING TO DROP A BOMB IN NEXT COMMMING 3-5 MTHS MAYBE JUST A FEELING BUT WHO KNOWS

  8. Now, for the LCHs flying above them and some nice infantry combat vehicle(abhay probably)riding along with.

That would be a PROPER mechanised force!

And some uavs circling above off course.

  9. To Anonymous @ 2:57.

Chinese J-10 is powered by Russian engines.
Sino-Pak FC-1 is powered by Russian engine.
Chinese L-15 trainer is also powered by Russian engines.
Chinese Type052 destroyers are powered by Ukrainian engines.

What do you have to say to that ?

  10. "DRDO and HVF should sell the arjun to the Pakistanis. Only then will the IA start sweating."

Pakistanis wont be able to afford anything better than their cheap chinese copies of Tin-pot 72.

  11. Engine design has been always our Achilles heel. The HF24 , in its heyday a good and beautiful plane, was let down by the poor engines. And anyway who reads history these days?

  12. To Anon @ 3.33 PM

"DRDO and HVF should sell the arjun to the Pakistanis. Only then will the IA start sweating"

I dont know about IA, but Pakis would definitely repaint it and rename it as AL-Fcukeee and call it proudly an indegenous MBT and start flaming threads, "comparision of Arjun MBT with AL-Fcukeee MBT"

    What do you Say?

  13. Ahem RAMAKRISHNA, what IDRW does is just recycle legitimate news organisation news reports as its own. Their sole purpose is to act like some Ad Magnet .

Any 'report' they have usually has a another legitimate report that they plagarised from.

  14. Al Khalid is more then a T 72 only a biased moron will think otherwise. Chinese engines are being placed on J 11 and J 10. Also JF 17 engine has just been runway tested. 2 Turbofan engines in development or in production is nothing to mock.

  15. WS-13 for FC-1 is a Chinese built version of the Russian RD-33 engine. J-11s and J-10s as of now run on Russian engines.

  16. Key word "Chinese built" for jf 17 engines will advance chinese aviation, no doubt. I dont think you heard of ws 10 series of engines being built to be placed on future chinese jets?

  17. "JF-17 has been runway tested.."

That reverse engineered RD-93, which you renamed as WS-13 ? Hmmmm….

Well, watch the Kaveri being integrated and flown on Tejas in the coming few months. And that's not reverse engineered from any other engine.

  18. Presently Chinese jets run on Russian engines period. Regarding WS-10 lets see if the Chinese endeavor yields anything, as of now they are struggling with it.

  19. WS 10 is already being placed on newer J11B jets, no oubt about that. So what is there to look at, it has already succeeded. WS 13 has newer materials and FADEC, unlike RD 93. Why take your opinion, when it is clearly biased.

  20. You are the one who is biased. What you are stating is what you love to believe, not facts. The PLAAF has not warmed up to WS-10 yet, rather reports from the country whose media is gagged by the govt suggest WS-10 is still not what it should have been. All newer J-11Bs being fitted with WS-10 is just a speculation, there is no official confirmation on how many of them actually run on WS-10. Few J-11Bs running on WS-10 doesn't sing its success story.

  21. Because PLAAF dont advertise how many WS-10 are fitted on planes, does not mean its a failure. Your logic is flawed. Also there are no articles saying it is a failure?! Importantly Chinese media tends to report in Chinese, unlike English, which is the premier language in India. So you have missed alot of information inregards to WS-10.

  22. You have no logic at all other than jingoism. There are no confirmed reports/official confirmation about WS-10 being fitted on J-11Bs on a large scale. So the fact still remains that a few J-11Bs might have WS-10 engines. That is nowhere near success. If WS-10 would have been a success it would have been in mass production by now. PLAAF still prefers Russian Al-31 engines for their J-10s. There are no credible neutral articles saying WS-10 is a success either. Whatever articles are there on the internet (Western/Russian) state that Chinese plan to use WS-10 engines on their J-10s and J-11s in the future as they are having issues with it right now. Chinese media praising ws-10 is only natural, whats surprising is that there were some reports suggesting otherwise. If you have any such credible links why don't you post here, lets see what information we Indians have missed. Google translate might be of some help for us.

  23. You asking basic questions, shows how little you know. WS 10 is being put on J11B due to the fact twin engine have back up if one fails, whereas J 10 will fall out of sky if engine fails. The recent orders were for engines designed to go on J10. Why would PLAAF abandon WS 10 series of engines when fundementally important to China, unlike India who have various options, China has little. China can take its time to enhance its jet engine industry because no one is currently threatening China, especially its neighbours.
