Rafale In Indian Air Force Colours

Was just sent this by a LiveFist follower (Thanks, Aslesha). Haven’t seen this before, and don’t think it’s official Dassault material. But pretty!

  1. When will we see Indian indigenous fighter jets in IAF colors ? The last one was HF-24 Marut, more than 5 decades ago.

For 77 years some or the other foreign fighter jet has added the Indian colors to its own kitty of colors of various air forces. So, what is the great joy in seeing Typhoon in IAF colors ?

Today it is an imported MRCA. Tomorrow an imported PAK-FA. Day after tomorrow, an imported UCAV. When will an Indian fighter jet rule the IAF ??

  2. Nice Pic ..Rafale in IAF colors looks good let's see who win's the MMRCA….Rafale has a chance being the Double engine A/c….

    1. The day India designs and develops a first rate fighter that is second to none at the time it is intended to enter service and is assured to remain that way throughout it's service life.

    2. The day India develops a capability to mass produce them on a good schedule and with the highest quality standards.

  4. For producing first rate a/c u need experience. it cant be in the first attempt. Even the sweds took help from americans. LCA has given us loads of experience we must use this experience in future projects.

  5. Beautiful bird, except for the non retracting aeriel refuelling probe!

Rafale is designed with minimal moving parts like no air brakes and a non retracting refuelling probe so as to minimise maintenance and ensure a high readyness rate. It never requires to leave its base for overhauls throught its service life.

Exactly. Nagarjun raised some very good points. Thus far, IAF has only bought foreign jets. Where is the merit in that ? Even cash-rich Saudi Arabia buys F-15Es and Eurofighters and Algeria buys advanced Su-30 MKAs.

The superpowers of the globe design and build their own fighter jets. So, unless IAF keeps on importing Typhoons or Gripens like there is no tomorrow, we can never hope to be a military power. Maybe just scare away Pakistan and fend off China, that's all.

    Thank you.
