India’s Next Chief Of Army Staff…

… will be one of these officers. It’s a dark, intriguing time, with speculation that current Army chief General Vijay Kumar Singh may quit after losing his case against the government.

  1. Select KT Patnaik now! He looks so impressive in those glasses he looks like a true general!

Too bad VK Singh has to go…he was such an adorable General…

  2. Gen singh –negative wibes..i can't respect him

Gen Gosh—dull..more of a soldier, not chief..but he must be very sharp at responses and can respond almost any question in the world.

Parnaik—-old fellow may fall before 50m (ook its a joke)…covered face, very aggressive and experienced looks confident but not upto the mark for the stature of chief

Gen Ahluwalia—almost like a pakistani Gen, but modest, less talking more listening, knows his art, bright n confident…more of a balance …he won't go against govt no matter wat..avoids confrontation, will do his task and exit..but chief is not all abt task..he is a manager..
Therefore out of these options and I've no other option I'll choose Gen Parnaik…he can talk tough move around like a lion but on the negative such ppl have a tendecny of making compromises ery quickly..but he can take on enemy and to some extent on govt..but don't expect much..

well all I said is based on photographic observations…to chck my accuracy ask these gens themselves…n yeah its been long since I made a wrong assessment

  3. Since the SC has decided to be a mute spectator to this sordid affair rather than delivering justice, I sure do hope the general should resign and thereby upset the applecart of "line of succession" bull shit the govt has been broadcasting for a while.
Line of succession sounds as if this is a medieval army kingdom we are talking about.
Since he has lost his honor anyways he has nothing more to lose and resign and excuse himself from the mess. Let the Army MS branch and the MOD figure out how to take care of this mess which is squarely their making with their machinations.

Welcome to the largest banana republic of world: India. Corrupt politicians, scheming bureaucrats, blindfolded and pliant courts and now conniving armed forces all the elements are now in place. From Mera Bharat Mahaan it has become Mera Bharat Beimaaan ! Vande Mataram !

  4. after what happened to vk singh, an upright general after a long line of schemers like deepak kapoor, jj singh and vij, i have lost all faith in this useless corrupt system, which protects the chamchas at the expense of merit.

  5. One of your fellow blogger's masthead quotes Gen. Douglas as saying " whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword, clearly has never been under any automatic fire" he must be turning in his grave seeing the might of the pen over the sword in India over Gen. V.K. Singh's age. There is no honour left in serving the armed forces given the pen holder's contempt for the sword holders. And, with such a demoralized force, we have presented a picture perfect opportunity on a platter for the hu's and wen's to complete their salami slicing of our north east. Mark my words, 2012 will be a decisive year, India's $100 Billion expenditure over the decade on arms notwithstanding. And we deserve it.

  6. LOL, whom are we kidding with all this wishful thinking? All of us *know* it's gonna be Bikram Singh, don't we? The last time the government overlooked "seniority" to pick a CAS was … gosh, I don't even remember when was that. Khair, humko maloom hai jannat ki haqeeqat lekin, dil ke khush rakhne ko "Ghalib" ye khayal achchha hai! Or may be that should be — blog article likhne ko "Shiv" ye bahana achchha hai …

  7. So the supreme court our highest judicial authority says to general blow with the wind. It's effectively saying to the general "come blow me". If this is the level of judicial redressal expected from the supreme court , then instead of high court I would prefer going to the Bhai court. At least you don't have to put up with the charade of "principle of natural justice" not being done !

  8. Ranjan ghosh: very demoralizing look. does nt insire a bit

Bikram singh: Ok. will be easy to manipulate. will be ok with corruption by policticos and baureaucrats.

Patnaik: will be good. looks feary and can talk tuff. upright and man with integrity. will give sleepless nites to politicos and theor swiss account plans.

Mr Ahluwalia. Aka Gen Kapoor part II. cAN BE EASILY mistook for pak general. will become billionaire in first year of service. will be knee deep in corruption and politicos will have great time. so most probably he will be selected for this job. as congis always do take such decisions.

i will not be surprised if an unknown muslim guy will become the chief in this cong rule. nuthin against relegion but against relegious selection for political mileage

  9. I have seen lots of support for Gen V.K Singh in all the comments. But have you all just spare a unbiased thought that SC has rightly said why he didn’t take any steps to rectify his age at NDA level and why he accepted the same DOB in 2008 for getting promotion.is’ nt he following the corrupt practices at that time. Why didn’t he moved to the Army tribunal to rectify his DoB . I know he is a good general but that doesn’t mean that we have to support him in his wrong doing as he is setting a wrong precedent for coming generations. Those people who are saying that our govt. is corrupt, they have spare a moment to think that we all are corrupt, we give the money to govt. officer to get completed our works. I know I am going to offend lots of folks here. But that is truth. We Indian always tries to find fault in other things but never look in ourselves.
