Rafale, Su-27 & F-16 Demo Teams To Star At AeroIndia 2013

I can now confirm that 3 Dassault Rafale fighters of the Rafale display team will fly in for Aero India 2013, kicking off on February 6 at the IAF’s Yelahanka base. Two will be on air display duties and the third, a special static display.

Eurocopter will display an AS565 Panther, on offer to the Indian Navy and Coastguard.

UPDATE @ 13.45 on Jan 21: The Russian Knights Su-27 display team will also debut at the show this year. A USAF F-16 display team  is nearly confirmed as a participant in the show, awaits final clearance.

Boeing will be bringing in a USAF C-17 Globemaster III like it did last year, along with a full-scale model of the ScanEagle. They won’t be flying in a Chinook or Apache, sadly — both platforms that are in line for contracts with the IAF.

  1. I don't think so expect at-least 5 fighter aircraft more than what is mentioned above. As the saying goes a good salesmen never stops pushing the customer till the product is sold.

  2. Hi, can anyone please share
what type of engines would our
    IAF rafales be provided
    with ? M88-3D a thrust
    vectoring variant of the M88
    engine or the M88-4E. Thought
    thrust vectoring capability was
one of the requirement in the
    selected fighters

  4. 3rd world country with 120 million hungry kids. it is ridiculous to waste money on non core items. After buying 280 Sukhois, if one nation doesn't feel safe than that's just BS.
India ( probably the dirtiest, most indisciplined and poorest country I have ever been to) needs to get its priorities strait. There's no need for 100 billion dollar purchases when local industry is given minimal chance at producing any substantial defense product.

first of all, kids like you need to learn proper English, it is not 'strait' it's 'straight', touch the keyboard when you have learnt to spell the English words. talk of disciplined?… huh!!

  6. @ 8.28

you jack off , do i have remind you that it was your ancestors destroyed my land for last 1500 yrs , stole or destroyed everything they could lay their eyes on .

India was still producing 35% of the world's GDP well into the 1800s. That's 1300 yrs of constant brutalization , and within 20 yrs we have managed to climb to top 3 economies in the world .

you dont have tell us abt our problems because ,Unlike you we dont beg .

ps: we are modernizing our forces , do you know what means ???

  7. Thrust vectoring is useless for rafale because it had 9,5t weight.
    Its aerodynamic is very good.
you msut consider the rate power thurst/weight

You need thrust vectoring over 11t, for fat hippotamus jet fighter, F22,T50,Mig35,SU35,….
They burn much fuel and make them short on wing. because they need to find back agility because to heavy to move.

Its a big problem for eurofighter, because it had a weight of 11tons and engine 9t, it must increase. They work on thrust vectoring for its ej200, it need because it lose each dogfight vs rafale in exercice. to heavy. but they help him in interception high altitud, the only good point for him. Usefull for air police at border.

The goal of M88-4E, is to push to 9t, in case, it must save the benefit of 7.5tons, low fuel consumption, easy maintenance for low cost, lifecyle extended, low radar signatur.

For my view, we dont need 9t push, it is useless, just for give satisfaction to UAE, but DGA is not interessting, that dont help payload, the dogfight exercice vs eurofighter and raptor confirm it, libya and mali operation combat, confirm to.

  8. That black Rafale looks very good. And for you @unknown 8.28 , with 120 million hungry kids, we are able to be one of the strongest and fastest developing economy. Please get your facts right.

  9. @8:28 PM…
    since you belive in a womanizer… and don't know… whom or what bloodline… you can claim… when all 80% has… a fine bloodline… or a past… ???…

  11. INDIA SHOULD HAVE A HEAVY FIGHTER DISPLAY TEAM LIKE RUSSIAN KNIGHT .

I KNOW I KNOW , ITS EXPENSIVE , BUT ITS PROBABLY THE CHEAPEST WAY TO ENTICES THE YOUNGER GENERATION AND INDUCE A SENSE OF PRIDE IN THE ARMED FORCES ALONG WITH THE COUNTRY.

IF NOT A DISPLAY TEAM WITH TEJAS WOULD BE A EXCELLENT TOO LIKE BLUE ANGLES ( PROBABLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HALF THE SALES OF F-16s).

  12. Arre bhai at least buy something (let the first 18 aircrafts come) its getting late kya baniyon kihe first tarah haggling kar rahaeho dushman has come on our head even Marshal (in whose name Marshal Plan was implemented after WWII in Germany and Japan was implemented for reconstruction)said 'Defence is better then opulence'
