Frop top: Two of the four French Rafales, an IAF Su-30 MKI, an IAF MiG-27, IAF C-17 Globemaster III and an upgraded IAF An-32. These beauties, courtesy of the DPR Defence directorate, just arrived from Jodhpur of the ARMÉE DE L’AIR Rafales and IAF airplanes taking off to begin Garuda-5 over the Thar Desert. 10 days of mixed fights, surgical strikes with an IAF Phalcon AWACS in airspace. Lots more from the exercise venue over the next few hours and days here on Livefist.

  1. Omg, someone show this Guy way to mental hospital to this idiot who is living in some fantasy world. Please do Not spoil discussion on this blog. We love this very much.

  2. First off and I agree with my previous poster on this – a mental asylum in THAR would perhaps be inadequate to rehabilitate a nutcase such as SATISH CHANDRA !

That said – can't wait to see more photos of the action from Jodhpur. Keep it coming !

  3. Lol..Cuckoo Chandra is back!! Where were you man, these blogs are just not the same without you. Mr Cuckoo I'm sure you mother hit you on the head when you were coming out….ha ha ha!

  4. I sense a strange similarity between Zaid Hamid of Pakistan with Satish Chandra.. Its you Zaid, isn't it ;).. naughty boy!

  5. Excellent. Its good to see vintage floggers and Rafael playing in the same playground. More pics awaited.

  9. Sir ,please clarify following my doubts- 1.let me know who is stronger among lca and Rafale?
2.if Rafael is stronger then what are its advantages over Lca?
3.How to make lca stronger over rest?

  10. Shiv Aroor, you have made it abundantly clear that you work for the CIA, which calls for capital punishment which you will get in due course. Till then, you do NOT have the right to remove legitimate comments while leaving intact abusive comments which do not address the issues I have raised; you cannot be allowed to harm the Indian public on behalf of the CIA.

    Hi Shiv Arror,

Great pictures and keep up with the maneuvers and report…

I see reports here and there that India want to acquire Rafale for $25 to 30 bullion dollars…

MMRCA competition is based on more than decade old needs and requirements…

Now 40 and 120 km BVRAAM missiles will make Rafale redundant….

SU-35 with its advanced radar can see deeper (up to 400 km) and interdict farther to obviate a need for Rafale…

Rafale is not right choice for India because of cost, technology transfer, armaments, avionics, etc…all of them comes from France only….

France will forever will be supplying same avionics systems and armaments and will deny any of our own open architecture avionics or armaments…
Right now we use Russian missiles in Tejas and western avionics in Mig and SU-30MKI….

I say please do not buy the Rafale as SU-30MKI, Mig-29K, Tejas, Mirage-2000. Jaguar and residual Migs can take care of India until we get Tejas II and additional SU and Mig series…and upgrade them in Blocks to keep them sharp…

China is begging Russia for SU-35S and finally they are going to buy 24 from them…

India must buy 36 of them outright and use them as Lakshman Rekha…as SU-30MKI, Mig-29, TejasII, Mirage 2000, Jaguar, residual Migs,, etc will provide air cover and close support…SU-30MKI is almost as good as SU-35S for Indian needs…

So please keep track of what is happening and write very informative articles…

Remember $30 billions will create lots of aerospace infrastructure, jobs, etc forever in India for Indians…

Thanks and have a great time at Garuda exercises…

  12. Hi Shiv ,

So the Ruskies are showing their true colors . They are now selling weapons to Pakistan . No doubt Pakistan will use these weapons against India . Just like the Vile , Evil , Disgusting Yankees the Ruskies should also NOT be trusted . They are all anti HINDUS .

    Thanks,
    Anil

The LCA/Tejas LSP pictures looks terrific…

France is taking almost $45 millions per plance to upgrade the old Mirage-2000 because only they can do the upgrade…
Stunningly the upgrade cost does not even include a new engine…

For $45 millions one can get a new Mig-35D and it would do as well too…
The only thing is we need to bargain hard with Russians to give us total technology and also full manufacturing capabilities…

I hope India does not waste $25 to 30 billions on a plane they do not need …

Does any one know if France supplying older version or latest F3R version?
If it is the older version, then it is far inferior and also they will again demand $50 million per plane to upgrade it….

So sad at the state of IAF, MOD Babus, politicians, HAL, etc…
They are all putting us in such a morass…

We definitely need submarines very fast than Rafales…

I hope Modi government makes good decisions…

  14. Wow ! please publish some photos of ALH in such exercises ? It would be great to see LCA participate too.

  15. Shiv,
How does Rafale compare with saab's Gripen ng. It only has an operating cost of 3700$ whereas rafale has an operating cost of 14000$. Rafale is the best 4.5 gen aircraft available now. Unlike the eurofighter typhoon everything is ready in rafale with the new f3r standard.
But instead of buying 1 Rafale, we could buy 2 Gripen. Gripen has only half the unit cost of Rafale. Instead of maintaining 1 Rafale, we could maintain 4 Gripen. So we could buy and maintain 300 Gripens for lesser cost than 126 Rafales. Life cycle cost is also very low for Gripen. Is Gripen ng a better buy? Please answer Shiv, expecting a reply.
