    stupid picture of the sukhoi.
the aspect ratio is all wrong. su-30 can carry at least 8(3 on each wing, 2 between the engines) or at most 12.
not 4 as the image suggests.

drdo sucks at these CG things.

    what weak minded people ?
I’m certainly not blaming shiv but if drdo publishes a picture that creates an impression that the astra can be carried in lesser numbers than it actually can then I DO HAVE A RIGHT TO CRITICISE DRDO FOR IT.
who knows, tomorrow the whiners would start complaining that only 4 astras can be carried by the su-30.

why call in bad press on yourself.

can someone tell me why P8I deal is too costly since

US DOESN’T EXPORT ELECTRONIC WARFARE SYSTEMS

THATS WHY we have to provide our own

RADAR WARNING RECEIVER,IFF AND OTHER ELCTRONICS

APY10 radar on P8I same as ELTA 2022A on TU 142
    SAME RANGE,same track while scan
but israel also provided us their electronic warfare system for
TU 142 UPGRADE at much cheaper prices.

    "Proliferant" indian

Shiv, shoo the ^Smith guy off..
Nobody talks about long-range missiles than R-77-AE-PD range 😉 ..coz its outside MTCR ..if india caught developing it with russia..technically “proliferation” people can beat us with it and try to sabotage NSG wavier. If you want you respond with..common China violates it all the time…remember international rules and restrictions are only meant for responsible countries like India who do even studiously adheres to defense “intellectual property” nit-picking..

indo russian ks-172 will have 300km range, within mtcr regulations.

do enquire how responsible US supplied UK with global hawk and tomahawk.

    mtcr has mjor loopholes.

biggest problem is USA .they have always used MTCR against india
    (like cryogenic engine case)

second is our own government always
    surrendered to these agreements

also USA has broken MTCR since they sold tomahawks to spain,uk,

and S.KOREA made their cruise missile which has similarity with tomahawk

i belive that drdo must be working on more improved version of astra which would have the thrust vectoring capability as every one is trying to incorporate this kind of new tecnology in their future air to air missle. what drdo has done is that they have build or developed the current tecnology. i belive they must have the future plan

if they can achieve 40g maneuvers with the current structures, thay don’t need any more thrust vectoring.

the materials certainly can’t handle any more.

i read some where that missle with thrust vector control, can also engage targets “around the corner” or even behind the firing aircraft.

Such manoeuvres call for seeker heads with “squint angles” of about 90°, which are best guided by the pilot with the aid of a helmet-mounted sight.

smith, you are confusing doghight missiles like the r-73 and aim9 with the medium ranged ones.
HMS is strictly for short range missiles.

what is the range of PIRATE on eurofighter and how does it matches to russian and american IRST

thanks bro but that raises a question in my mind that will the long range A2A missile will be more effective as there are various measures to counter them even the pilot has more time to react if the aircraft system locate them early only the missle will be effective if there is a litte time to react or they must be invisible to the craft to make the impact while the short range a2a missles are more difficult to doge due to there aggility & mobility and also there will be a less reaction time for pilot.
does that mean that the missile needs to be selected according to the mission.

the long range missiles to be used for targeting AWACS, Mid Air Refueler Tankers, Transport Aircraft and the main target of cold war mighty Bombers. while the short range missles for the strike fighters.

we need some MIG 31 to neutralze
    chinese and paki tankers,awacs,orions
    each aircraft can carry

6 R37+2 R77+2 R73(better than any MRCA contenders being considered)

    1.4meter diameter radar(upgrade it)

and it’s 700km combat range at 2.4mach is
enough to neuralize pakis or any
    european bird

it can also carry LGB,KH 31,ANTI SHIP MISSILES

russia has some of them in storage and they are available sooner than MMRCA AND COSTS less than euro and american birds
