  1. The F-16 Block60’s no 3001-3080 belong to the Emirates airforce. Two of the four F-16’s taking part in AeroIndia 2009 have possibly been borrowed from them.of these two F-16IN Super Vipers one of them has the number 3001?

  2. would you leave us guessing or tell us how much you were paid by lockheed martin……….

dude first learn this ….its not right to have a sidestick, try landing in bad condition you will learn the lesson, in a ‘mid stick’ you can use both of your hand and concentrate on the panel too, and its eaysier to fly………you are hearing this from a as you say a ‘career combat pilot’ who has flown on Mirage 2000, Su 30 and offcource the invincible MiG 21 in the begining, which means both mid stick and sidesticks……….

dude when a pilot flies a fighter he concentrates on flying and he picks up 9g many times, i can name so many pilots(me included) at the IAF including senior brass who have pulled 9g+ to 11g to for a min and above on a centrifuge, without blacking out.every thing comes with consistent practice, Navy fighter pilots do better than this…….
……strong shoulders, neck and well developed abdomen are needed…….which doesnt occur once you are over weight and try to develope muscles, shiv, you dont look fit. but if you were once fit and active i would take back my words……its fine then………
is that you in the cockpit…..with the cap and does this article come in indian express?

  4. [email protected]: stop being a petulant idiot for a second. obviously pilots frequently experience 9G. the whole point of why it was big for me is precisely because i’m NOT a fighter pilot by any stretch of fitness or imagination (so you’re right about that). if you’re sulking because you weren’t important enough to fly a foreign fighter, send them an application as i did two years ago and try your luck. otherwise, wear a bib and carry on with your clerk-giri. read an article carefully before shooting your .. er.. load.

  5. dont know why you feel the need to respond to dodos like the last anon, shiv. ignore them. they’re as you said just jealous.

  6. ‘obviously pilots frequently experience 9G. the whole point of why it was big for me is precisely because i’m NOT a fighter pilot’

all i wanted to say is that there are better things than this scrap and the pilot who took you for the ride in the IAF, in the market… this particular aircraft looks like a vintage f16 painted as f 16 IN……what ever it is factually………what authority do you have to talk about these aircraft as ‘latest’ and all those stuff, .flown a few flights..what you call yourself as test flights??………so you were testing the aircraft on behalf of India………and really the people watching you on the idiot box would think that you are some great protector of the country……….cant you ever do without the background music…..

dude ive flown eurofighter typhoon with all those limitations that they impose, and by the way ever flown a Su 30 MKI…hummmmmmmmm?
clerkgiri..? ever cleared a public exam?? than your tenth board or the 12th………..

  7. So India is being given this old machine F-16 instead of another questionable fighter the F-35 (already the Auzzies are complaining).

What a shame … and this gets a review …

  8. [email protected]: if you don’t like my authority, or lack thereof, you’re free not to subscribe to it. i flew the plane, and i wrote about it. i don’t represent the government of india, nor do i represent the arms lobby. if you can’t make that distinction without an itch in the cajones, i’m sorry, you’ll really need to do that whole “public exam” thing again! like i said, you still sound like a petulant idiot.

  9. It doesn't matter if this bird is an 'old' model. Hasn't the IAF flown old russian tin cans always? The russians have always sold us crap and made us pay through our noses for it. So what if the yanks do the same? The point to remember is that in terms of quality the american stuff is way ahead of the ruskies – even if old.

All these years of building & operating russian fighters has caused a lag in the quality of equipment, training & tactics of the IAF. We've got to break out of this 'low-class' state of affairs and the best way to do it is to induct an american fighter!

A lot of people crib about the cost in terms of time, money & energy it will entail to develop the infrasture to operate an american fighter in our inventory. But I believe that in the long-run the add-on benefits will far outweigh the initial painpoints.

Here's hoping to the addition of an american fighter into the IAF.

  10. @shiv… ever thought why you get to go on the F 16 and check out the other Western equipment… aircraft carrier and all ? Cos these people know that you WILL go GA GA over their stuff. How come no Ruski ever invites you ?.. Or anyone else? And its precisely becos you go GA GA over their stuff and publicise it ,is why they give you the oppurtunity. I have seen a lot of western equipment too as i have from the erstwhile soviet block …and as a professional pilot let me tell you what you write is exactly what they want you (SHIV) to write … but your writing lacks depth and is devoid of any professional or educative opinions ..why ..you re just a wanna be Jane’s except that you’re shooting from the hip with no clue what so ever. So stop feeling so smug or gloat ..wake up and use your big head and not your ego

  11. fuck ,y the hell US not selling us their latest stuff f22,while all other contenders r ready to sell their latest .whats special in this falcon,if mirage2000 could b upgraded with aesa then it will beat any f16 varient.

  12. Hi Shiv! Could you kindly clarify if the 9G was attained by the F-16 or by the pilot and you? I’m asking this because if an aircraft pulls 9G it does not mean the aircrew too are bodily subjected to 9G for the simple reason that the G-suit kicks in when the body is subjected to higher G-forces. Therefore, if the F-16 is touching the 9-G figure, then the aircrew’s body will be pulling only 4.5 to 5 G.

  13. whats super in this and f18 aircraft except :-

US sold this fighter f16 blk60 to UAE for
    $ 80 million per piece
    ——————————-
US sold just 24 f18e/f to australia for $ 6 billion in aussie dollars.

  14. howdo you apply for flights? is it just for presspersons, do you have to pay for it?

can you discribe what all happened?

  15. To Anon@9:23PM: Why are you so hostile to anyone relating in layman’s terms what exactly are the human challenges of flying an advanced combat aircraft? Shiv’s report as reproduced above never compared the Block 60 F-16F Desert Falcon to any of its contemporaries, nor did it run down any of the other five M-MRCA contenders, so why the negativity in your comments? Yes Shiv did go GA GA but not over the aircraft itself, but over his personal experience of flying a fourth-generation combat aircraft. What’s wrong with that?

To Anon@9:59PM: Kindly check with dassault Aviation or THALES Avionics if the RBE-2 AESA will be offered along with the Mirage 2000 in future to any customer, before making ill-thought of remarks like you did earlier.

To Anon@10:20PM: Nothing super, just the factual record of the number of successful aerial engagements of the F-16s and F/A-18s against aircraft of French and Soviet/Russian origin since the late 1980s will reveal to you what exactly is ‘super’ about such aircraft.

To [email protected]: They do remove the nosecone when briefing selected interested parties. But onlt for brief moments as the avionics bulkhead is an environmentally controlled area and extreme care is taken to avoid FOD-related incidents. If you recall, during Aero India 2001 the nosecone of the Su-30MKI prototype was briefly removed to show the NO-11M BARS radar to the visiting ROKAF delegation, while at Aero India 2007 the Zhuk-AE on board the MiG-35 was shown as well.

  16. to sengupta

u must know that US lost over 2000 aircraft in vietnam and what did vietnamese had to defend themselves

and since 1980 US has attacked only iraq and on kosovo and again what iraq and serbs had to defend themselves nothing but few old and unoperational stuff and sanctions

and by the way US never tells truth about such engagements even if it is against poor countries which have old stuff

same for patriot missiles in gulf war in 1991 fired towards israel ,US PRESIDENT said it achieved 100% success and british counterparts did not agree with that and many israelies died by scud missile attacks

  17. @P Sengupta… I think you need to know that if an aircraft undergoing 9G..so does the pilot.. !!!!.. the G suit and the G tolerance exercises that the pilot does only allow him to withstand greater G … and its not the 9G which is so great … its the rate of onset of G which is great… as an expert on this blog id think you d have atleast this basic knowledge about physics.. for further reading go through Mechanics of flight by Kermode… its the bible of all aviators
