  1. Thanks for posting these brochure pics, Shiv. Glad to see such a complex system finally operational with the Indian Armed forces..

  2. India should place more valuable orders for IAF / Army. DRDO should research next gen Akash missile , with similar to s-400 SAM of russia.
Army & IAF should not limit their orders .

  3. Akash is dead in the water. MRSAM is two generations ahead of it. Its low level intercept capability is doubtful. All short legged SAMs today must have anti missile/pgm capability. Enemy is not stupid to fly into its range. Case point
    pak acquired Brazilian MAR-1 ASM.

  4. wow track on jam, launch on jam..and the jammer will not even know the akash is launched since it is totally passive and guided by ground radar. this is seriously complex piece of equipment.

    ————————————————
RUSSIAN S400 HAS range of 400km with operating altitude of 40km is already 4 genration ahead of MRSAM

MRSAM will have range of only 70km with operating altitude of 20km only and that too will take 4-5 years to build

and if there is LRSAM and if its range becomes 120-150km it will still b much inferior against S400

    it shoes u know nothing

low level interception or below 200 meter is the work of point defence system not SAM like akaash, shtil SAM

SHTIL SAM is nounted on new shivalik frigates but there is kashtan point defence system to intercept low level thraets

SHTIL SAM can engage targets only above 200meter

moreover AKAASH is already ready,no other country does like as our country does look at pakis and chinks they respect what they make and what they have like jf17,al khalid pakis never critcized over this aircraft and tanks

they never critcize rd33 engine and its performance in jf17

only we criticize over arjun,ex tanks, akaash, engine for LCA, NOW army wants import of tomahawk barring brahmos and do this and that

  6. akaash is still pretty capable against all 4.5 generation aircrafts AND FOR THOSE IDIOTS crticize its performance they must know that akaash’s sensors r totally passive and can’t be jammed and thats a very good acheivement

  7. s-400(SA-21-GROWLER) is the best SAM available. i don’t understand why india is so hesitant in acquiring the S-400.any reason you can give shiv ????

totally agree with u read this

Russia is to deliver S-400 Triumf (SA-21 Growler) surface-to-air missile systems to Belarus under an integrated air-defense agreement, a senior Belarusian military official said on Wednesday.

Igor Azarenok, commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, said the countries’ defense ministries were currently discussing delivery terms.

The S-400 is designed to intercept and destroy airborne targets at a distance of up to 400 kilometers (250 miles), twice the range of the U.S. MIM-104 Patriot, and 2 1/2 times that of the S-300PMU-2.

The system is also believed to be able to destroy stealth aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, and is effective at ranges up to 3,500 kilometers (2,200 miles) and speeds up to 4.8 kilometers (3 miles) per second

  9. wow track on jam, launch on jam..and the jammer will not even know the akash is launched since it is totally passive and guided by ground radar. this is seriously complex piece of equipment.

you said it – btw, this is an immense achievement by DRDO. this kind of ability has been achieved by only a handful of OEMs worldwide who securely guard the algorithms, the software and the hardware implementation of these capabilities.

with HOJ, TOJ, the PAF/PLAAF will be in deep trouble if they think they can rely on jamming to defeat Akash.
