  1. Its good to see indian weapons , Govt is wasting much time in placing solid orders in Akash missiles .

    DRDO should stick western stickers in akash , then india may easily place more orders ( in sticker should mention- NOT MADE IN INDIA) ..

  2. SA-6 seems to be the inspiration but akash is not outdated like SA-6. SA-6 is low altitude missile (12 km) as opposed to akash with 18 km altitude. Ranges seem comparable 24km to 27-30 km.

  3. I’m not sure about comparable systems from other countries, so I’d like to know if they also need so many support vehicles. To me they seem like multiple points of potential failure.

    I’d expect to see a radar vehicle and a transporter-cum-launcher, but that’s it.

  4. There are alltogether 12 different systems to operate one AKASH battery. Say each systems requires
    6 persons. then you may need 80 ppl at one place to mann and operate AKASH SAM!~ dont you think its a luxury for IA and IAF and IN
    to spare so many ppl for one battery? To minimize the no. of personnel required the entire AKASH ground support system is to be heavily networked and automated!

    whats wrong with infrastruture of akaash

    all other foreign have similar infrastructure

    spyder sam,land based MBDA ASTER have 4 missiles per launher akaash has 3,

    all systems require reloading vehicle ,all systems require missile carrier vehivle

    all SAM system require command and control vehicle

    all SAM system require radar vehicle

    all SAM system require cable and repair systems and thats the truth

    so all this infrastruture also required by akaash so whats wrong in this

    u r comparing whole group of akaash with single battery of spyder sam

    in group there r 4-5 akaash batteries controlled by 3D CAR radar

    and a single akaash battry comprises of rajendra radar and akaash missiles

    spyder sam shows only battry level infrastucure

    and u better compare battery level infrastucture of akaash with spyder sam

    and group level deployment infrasruture is always huge

    this infrastructure is for whole akaash group not for single battery of akaash

    single battery comprises of only rajendra radar and akaash missile

    Thanks for the information that similar competing missile systems have similar support infrastructure as well. It is good to see the ferocity with which you defend the system.

  12. The gentleman who writes at night 2:13 knows not the functioning of a modern day msl system. Data link used instead of wires. On launcher time of msls increased exponentially as compared to msls in storage cases. Testing time and MTBF increased exponentially. Statistical employability of msl use factored in resulting in better numbers. LOAL too factored in… of course a dodo like you wouldnt know. Choice of optimal msl sysytem for best SR and MR targeting. Use of minimal infrastructure thus improving reliability. And the nation pays… that comes from my pocket, of course.. or it appears you don’t pay your taxes. Even if you forget all the above.. you are rather ill mannered.
