S-400/triumph/SA-21(growler) is the need of the hour. the best part it is that the S-400 comes with T-O-T. which means india will benefit immensely in R&D.

India hardly needs s-400 , it defends from both aircraft/ missiles perfectly . India hardly needs it in Army / IAF, but india is only interested in short range SAM’s . Defense planners should wakeup , should do needful for country.

The target has to justify the cost of the interceptor. Are you going to shoot ASMs and dirt cheap glide bombs with S400? There is no silver bullet solution to every problem.

to NJS and person below this guy

it shows u guys know nothing

S400 system comprises of several missiles of different range

this system includes missiles of 400km ,200km ,90km,and point defence system (tor system )

so for the shooting down dirt sheap PGM then a point defence system can be used

for shooting down a missile with nukes a missile with 400km range or missile with 200km range can be used

otherwise whether AN AShM will make several hundred million destroyer or frigate piece of trash or or ballistic missile will make city a plane ground

so using S400 system is much cheaper than loosing a city or frigate or destroyer

by the way s400 system can be used by both air force or army

China is building an even better system from the stolen designes of the S-400, and soon they will sell it to pakistan.

It is called the S-420 system

TOT isn’t always a good thing. Like a drug that you become consumed when you become dependent on it, if India keeps feeding off the hands of these foreign companies, Indian weapons will always be B-grade.

Even if the Akash isn’t the best system in the world, India’s military doctrine must be modified to fight and win with Indian built systems. Only a small percent of systems can be foreign, and these will be the ones that do very specialized roles that perhaps DRDO cannot address.

bottomline is that if india does not procure the s-400 system then china will get T-O-T permission for mass production , & then it will sell the system to pakistan under some chinese name. no patriotic indian will ever want that. so time to buckle up guys. the time has come when we should decide whether we want the best system in the world or the most expensive one ?????

Yep you are sure? You are stupid because China will never call a SAM S-420, they would call it HQ-?? India wont get TOT if they buy it. India has not mastered the SA 6 technology, nevermind S 400.

i think that the s-400 is called HQ-19 in china & not S-420, as somebody mentioned( i think it was a crude joke by anononymous to call it s-420 ) . but nevertheless it's true that pakistan is interested in the HQ-19. if india acts smart & play ball with russia, in procuring the system then i think that we can stop pakistan from getting it's hands on this superlative piece of technology.

in 2014-15 when v get this system
pakis will have AWACS MUCH BEFOR that and chinese already have AWACS and AWACS will pick up the loction of deployment of MRSAM from 200km and this iswell outside the engagement range of MRSAM and the accurate position of MRSAM will be revealed to paki fighters, missiles and Lpi will be redenred useless

MRSAM can do nothing except just sit and watch in this scenerio while S400 has various missiles with various range(designed to shoot down rivet joint,AWACS,BOMBERs) will be able to shoot down attacking fighters AWACS

and if MRSAM deployed in eastern sector and chinese will have stealthy fighters before 2020 and MRSAM will be a DUD after service for just 5 years against such threats while s400 is optimised against such threats

on the other hand s400 is built from groud up to counter very low RCS threats and thats why it has VHF nebo aesa AND PESA COMBINATION

and some people think russians r fools that they use 2 radars for
s400 as if they don’t know what will be the future threats and MRSAM can do that with only one radars

then they better think that british and french r also fools that they will have 2 aesa radars one is SAMPSON RADAR,OTHER ONE IS SMART L RADAR on type 45 and horizon class frigates and they have 2 aesa radars for counter low RCS threats

moreover S400 is a all in one missile system to address very long range, loong range, medium range, short threats

5 S400 systems r enough to cover entire western border with pakistan ,but on the other hand how many MRSAM system required to cover western border 20-25

why are my desi bhaijaans so frighteningly stupid (or insanely clever at trolling)? akash is a fantastic system and a real credit to india. when will you fools stop having wetdreams of phoreign maal that, line the pockets of the political class (and even the military/journo types); are usually inferior and more expensive; have no bearing to the doctrine of the armed forces; and have the potential to be rendered useless at the time of need? I suppose the first step is to prevent the indoctrination by discovery channel and phoreign glossy magazines that are nothing more than a propaganda tool for their respective nations.

Akaksh is a fantastic MRSAM…others feel that akash will loose to it`s counterparts like s-400, PAC-3 because of their intensive cosmetic coverage like “TomHawk” cruise missile..it`s subsonic compared to our Brahmos. Moreover Desi MRSAM will account durability and selfdependency…Akash sam is 1/4th cost of others in the race….
