  1. Felt we would have had much long range aircraft like B777 which has max range of 17000+ kms…. Also, the aircraft’s paint theme isn’t appealing….

For me Air-India’s theme is very much appealing..

  2. Why is there a ‘Pandit’ there at the inauguration or the ribbon cutting? Isn’t India a secular country and then shouldn’t the ceremony be multi-faith (if it is required in the first place anyway). When APJ Kalam was the President did any inauguration took place with a muslim priest present? I do not think so.

Shiv, I have followed your reporting and blogs and being a journalist, is it not your duty to report or comment about these things. Or you are just a churnalist i.e. not-a-journalist.

Either we Indians start being and behaving secular (as we love to claim ourselves to be and profess to the world) or start showing our true colors by showing and behaving in un-secular or fundamentalist ways.

And for all you people who will think otherwise, I am an Indian born to a Hindu father and a Sikh mother.

  3. hey anon @11:53 AM

your opinon is correct……but its not a journalists duty to as you said ‘not your duty to report or comment about these things’as you said…..a journalist should just report, should give no comments, no opinions, no predictions, no speculations……something all pvt news papers, tv channels do these days……you have to keep facts and rest of the things apart, but yes should bring forward public opinion in public’s word, and not report what they want them to say…. and not in their own words….. i Just happened the evening news report that comes on DD india(i’ne never watched since the 1990’s) which wasnt even live…..but what they were doing was reporting news…..whereas one prominent pvt. news channel was showing a documentry, another one was running ‘Justice for…. campaign’, handful of news channel were showing parts of episodes of reality ty shows and serials,i after coming home after working for 12 hours find no NEWS in any NEWS channel only VIEWS……probably its a marketing gimmick on part of the channel but somehow people have forgotten what journalism is all about…….. its sad that the govt is allowing them to carry the NEWS channel tag, they should be called entertainment channel…….

  5. @ Anonymous,

I do not see any Pandit. If you are referring to the person with the tilak in the second last photograph, he is not a pandit, but an onlooker who just happens to wear a tilak because of his religious beliefs (just like sikhs wear a turban or Muslims would keep a beard). There is nothing in the photo to suggest that the guy is a pandit who performed a religious ceremony.

  6. 300 CRORES WASTED FOR FLYING THESE SHIT BAG POLITICIANS AND THE SUPREME COMMANDER WHO TURNS THE OTHER WAY WHEN THE ARMED FORCES ARE SHORTCHANGED IN THE SCPC.

IF THE ARMED FORCES CAN BE ASKED TO SURVIVE ON SCANTY PAY WHY CANT THESE VVIPs (VERY VERY IDIOTIC PEOPLE) TRAVEL BY ANY AIRLINE. IN THIS AGE OF RECESSION THEY SHOULD SET AN EXAMPLE IN AUSTERITY.

IF GANDHIJI CAN TRAVEL THIRD CLASS TO BE WITH THE MASSES THEN THESE ASSES CAN TRAVEL ECONOMY CLASS WITHOT INJURY TO THEIR ARSES.

ANY WAY, WHY HAVE ANTI MISSILE TECH FOR THE AIRCRAFT?

EVEN THE TALIBAN WILL NOT WANT TO KNOCK OFF THESE JOKERS AND HELP THE INDIAN AAM ADMI

  7. If the Prime Minister or President has to fly to the US, they will still have to fly AIR INDIA. It would have been much wiser getting 2 Boeing 747’s. There are 5 Embraer 135’s for transporting these VIP’s within the country anyways. We can afford two sets of VIP airplanes after all India is a rich country..right

  8. idiot anon @ 11:53, where do you see a pundit ?

get a pair of specs before you go on a long whine about India.

  9. Instead of Air Force One this bird should be called the Air Force Done, because that is what they have done with the AF. While the CAS says heptrs shortage these chaps go in for 300 Crore toys. If the CAS has a sense of humour he should get things like Buri Nazar wale tera mooh kala and OK TATA written on the aircraft. He can also write Pratibha te Sonia di gaddi. The Congress hand can be painted to remind the people of the Haath ki Safaai.

  10. these are the shittiest aircraft that I have ever seen in my life….just look at the aircraft structure ,including the panels…..I believe its some old model which was refurbished and sold for a fortune….

  11. brahmastra, it should say IAF only, we don’t need to copy everything the americans do. these aircrafts belong to the communications sqdn of IAF.

  12. What a terrible waste of money. People like Pratibha and other “VIPs” should travel in trains and take commercial flights when going to other countries.

Soldiers still wear a tin dustbin as helmet, and body armour that can’t stop a mosquito sting. Yet these “VIPs” must travel in style to kiss the asses of their masters in Washington.

    ?? ??? ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? 🙁

  13. “Everyone is right for complaining about the IAF getting special treatment. They should wear rags, hole in their shorts and travel in baggage compartment.” Obviously the IAF deserve this jet and so does other servants of the nation. But it will take a little more time for everyone to get more because India can not afford it yet. Have patience people!

  14. VOTE VOTE VOTE – VOTE THE HIJDA PM AND THE ITALIAN MADAMME OUT OF THIS NATION. I BELIEVE THAT IDIOT PALLAM RAJU HAS STATED THAT THEY ARE INVESTIGATING DEEPAK KAPOOR. THIS IS JUST TO STOP HIM FROM ASKING THE ARMY TO VOTE AGAINST THESE CHAKKAS. DON'T WORRY PALLAM – THE ISRAELI DEAL AND OTHER SUCH SHADY ACTIVITIES WILL BE INVESTIGATED WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF POWER & BY GOD YOU WILL BE IN AN ARMY JAIL WHEN IT WILL BE TIT FOR TWAT. SO GO AHEAD YOU A*SEHOLE – MAKE HAY WHEN THE SUN SHINES – DARKNESS WILL SOON COME YOUR WAY.
