  1. Any ideas to what happened to the Mahindra AXE. ?

I have heard that it failed the Army tests and Mahindra dismantled all of the series

    Can you confirm this

  2. This will be very effective in North East, Jharkhand and Bihar against the Naxals. The police need these their more than in Mumbai.

  3. A 'cut and paste' job on the French VBL Mistral by mahindras.
Why leave muscular fenders over the wheels ? Reminds one of the old 3 wheeler tempos that used to ply in 70s.

  4. Why exactly does Mumbai police need such heavily armored vehicle??

I mean I can understand the need of police dealing with Naxalites, Maoists etc.

How many are they acquiring anyway??

    Ashish

  5. Looks like it can withstand AK fire.I hope the tyres are the self inflating type. No protection from IEDs planted on the road though. Looks better than the South African Caspir. Good show private sector.

  6. Looks rugged but would it be good against landmines and RPGs? Anyway too good for counter-terrorist activities in urban areas.

  7. Looks like the vehicle is armed with a Indian Army LMG – essentially a world war II era Bren gun but modernized a bit.

    That's pathetic.

It should at least have an FN-MAG – or the MMG in Indian Army parlance.

Typical of India to 'under-arm' the foot soldier/policeman.

  8. The gunner needs better protection
as he stands exposed . An open top turret as in some Humvees would fit the bill better.

may sound stupid but the top can be rearranged to fit one more crewmember manning a lmg in the opposite direction.

  9. Excuse me, but has the ballistic protection been verified by independent agencies? Does it even meet the basic B5 or B7 levels of protection offered to consumers in MErcedes S Class variants?

Of course not. More show than go. Needs better gun (and sighting system) too. Sigh.

  10. The vehicle looks like some vehicle shown in the movie Mad Max. I also remember seeing one Jonga with this kind of plating in 1987 at MCEME Secunderabad. It was a project done by some students on Degree Engineering course.
