  1. Its kind of strange they always come up with dates but almost never actually keep it. Technological hurdles might be a reason but disillusioned estimate dates dishearten enthusiasts like me.

Hope something good (like private sector participation) prevails.
All said Godspeed the first flight test.

  2. Delay is a part of development when we need something new. But why they always set unrealistic dates? They are talking about 'few weeks' for last three years!

  3. OOOOOOO, SWEEEEEEET!!!

I guess quality takes a little more time, especially when you are doing something for the first time.

BTW, are those copter blades a new design?

  4. These public sector enterprises are not fit for defense manufacturing. It is time that we made HAL, ADA & DRDO as public limited companies by dis-investing Govt Stake, So that these companies work towards Goals set by the investors and share holders and deliver something constructive else put senior management's job in the line of fire.

  5. Couldn't agree more with the last poster. I wonder if the government would treat taxpayers with the same leniency – "I will file my returns within the next few weeks. I will clear whatever is outstanding in the next few weeks". Come on, roll out the product first. Whats the use beating tom tom's and making a fool out of themselves in front of the whole god damned world. Aeronautics isn't childs play and most people who follow developments in the Indian aviation sector are aware of the complexities. Then why make absolutely harebrained claims?
Reminds me of announcements at Railway stations – Train XYZ agle 10 minute mein aane waali hai. It is another thing that the train shows up hours later. I hope this story has a happy ending and LCH indeed makes an appearance. If people could wait for a world class chopper like Dhruv and a very decent plane like Tejas, am sure they can wait for LCH but HAL should stop indulging in such childish tomfoolery.

  6. Untill India has privatized or semi-privatized defense sector; I have little hope of anything substantial coming out of that country. Pakistan has better defense products- regardless of how they were obtained. They lead us in tanks, missiles, submarines, fighter aircraft and small calibre rifles. I mention this not as an insult to India, but as a pointer. A country like Pakistan with 25% education, 1/6 the size of India comes up with better management, timeline and quality: while we gloat with first and second and so on test flights of LCA, missiles, tanks etc.

  7. I hope the su30MKI photo behind him is not the first RIP photo…

🙂 i believe they are are keeping indian tradition. Put flower , a coconut , and agarbakthi.. for the dead person

  8. What are you guys expecting, it has been said aircraft is overweight. Unless they go with a new engine, using lighter materials will not compensate for lack of engine power. Delays will be common, if that is not sorted out.

    meh !
India is not insulted by your utterings but your intelligence certainly is.

  10. this stupid cunts at HAL said it was to fly on the last week of December! Now a few more weeks!! HAL, go home and eat bananas and drink milk and sleep. utter failures.

  11. Other than LCH also highlight about the newly launched Vidhwansak (Indian multi-caliber anti-materiel rifle) manufactured by Ordnance Factory, Tiruchirapalli in your blog.

  12. @Anonymous 6:28 PM
A Lot of information in public domain is available but I was thinking for some details like how they went, need, etc. or a detailed coverage as done.

  13. anonymous@2:13 AM, Whats new is what I ask. The wiki page doesn't have anything new from what I read many moons ago or what I learnt about the rifle at OFB. I was wondering if a new, lighter version in the range of 11-13 kgs has been arrived at, something along the lines of an M-82/M-107 rifle. I didn't find any reduction in Vidhwansak's weight at all on the wiki page. Anyways, the rifle was meant to be an anti material rifle, not a .50 sniper rifle in the strictest sense. I was just curious if openlight was hinting at some "hush hush" news he overheard at the local chai dukaan where OFB design folks hang out for destressing and inspiration.

  14. Mr. Shiv

Could you shed some light on the investigations of the recent Su 30 crashes and also the conclusions drawn(if any).

  15. Glad to see india with Indigeneous LCH. Hope it will not be delayed like Tejas project. But Mr Aroor , could please let us know the exact date it's going tpo take place

  16. shiv where r u man where is ur info on mca u and the ajay shukla both irritating viewers with coming soon posts

where is the news on mca comon man

  17. Amazing! India's aviation industry is finally coming of age! How many years did it take them to build the LCH? 3-4 years? Amazing. It shows you that the first project is always the most difficult, and subsequent effort becomes easier because you've grown in the process of perfecting the base technology. Which is another good reason why India should perfect the Tejas LCA and the Shakti engine, and not give up. Even if the technology isn't the best, the learning experience is invaluable.

  18. exactly anon @ 10:03, it was in late 2006 that MOD finally sanctioned LCH project and we will have first flight in early 2010 ! in 3 and half years flat !

by comparison, the chini WZ-10 took 12-13 years, from 1991 to late 2003 for the first flight. PLA's attack chopper requirement was in fact started in 1979 !

  19. Lie's and more bloddy lie's, Hal chaiman promised in 2003 that LCH will be ready by 2005.Don't beleave a word.

    "
    From Aero India 2003
HAL has now promised to deliver the LCH by the the next Aero-India show in 2005. The mockup featured functional glass cockpits and details such as the RWR aerials, MAWS, Nag ATGMS and the conformal countermeasures launcher. One of the prime roles of the helicopter would be COIN missions at extremely high altitudes.

  20. sharma, you are a moron and even more a bl**dy moron. the govt didn't fund the project before october 2006.
there was no way HAL or anyone else could have delivered anything more than a mock-up in 2005. learn to use google first.

  21. No new posts yet!!…
    Mr.shiv
I can undrstnd. U must be busy with all the rumbles that DRDO and MoD are making. Already a lot of news about Anti-Sat weapons, artillery biz, DRDO revamp, Kaveri tests etc are poping up in the new year.

Since u r takin ur time, now Im expecting some "solid" posts about atleast a few of these.

  22. I am sure HAL has thought about it but if the rotor position is just above the cockpit upon landing and if the glass cockpit opens to the side wouldn't rotor right above obstruct it?

Is the clearance between cockpit glass and rotor enough?

Pardon my ignorance but couldn't help wondering after seeing model image.

  23. Sharma, read the comment above yours. There are no lies here – just your misinterpretation of dates.

In any case, de aaye durust aaye.
PS: buraidiah, when will you give up? there is no gain for Pakistan from your constant rants.

  24. Shiv, good news! If you were waiting for Ajai to post that update on FGFA, its done! And by tomorrow the fire will have died down. Then you can post the MCA update and reclaim some of the lost attention.

  25. To, Sharma ,
Its not lie , you will see the same news on 2015 also , The new oncoming person will say LCH will be ready by 2020 .

  26. at least HAL out its reputation on the line by releasing a date.

aroor promises articles by the down with no dates and they never appear !

  27. Shiv,
For how long have we to suffer the indignity of seeing the mugface ofn the non-performing top baboo of HAL?
He and his ilk let the nation down with the HF24. The way the LCA has been progressing it may become obsolete by the time it is inducted.
Now this clown claims that the LCH is going to fly in a few weeks. In his lexicon 'a few weeks' may as well mean a few months, if not a few years.
Clowns like him should have been shown the door long ago. They are the stumbling blocks to progress.

  28. Why are the images of such Clown's like HAL CEO shown here? They should be kicked out for non performance and the job should be handed out to private sector in the best interests of our Tax Payers and Armed Forces. I wish common sense prevails with the MoD to make a quick decision.

  29. private sector? ur tatas can't make quality cars and every indian private company has its own problem and u think they can step into such a high tech industry and perform right away?bull shit! Anyway, the door on the LCH opens upwards and the clearance is more than sufficient. The whole project was taken up and it done in about 3 years time and u blame HAL for this?, hard to please such fools!
LCH is flying this month and i would wanna see how u idiots react on that day.
