Ashok Chakra For 11 Raj Rif Braveheart

The President has awarded Ashok Chakra (Posthumous) to Havildar Rajesh Kumar of 11 Rajputana Rifles. On 01 August 2009, a section of Ghatak team searching the dense forest in Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir was subject to intense and indiscriminate firing by terrorists. Havildar Rajesh Kumar, who was leading the section, returned fire and scrambled into the undergrowth to outflank the terrorist. With dogged determination he closed-in around the flank and killed the terrorist. While continuing the search, the team was again engaged by two terrorists positioned upslope. Realizing the danger to the lives of his teammates, Havildar Rajesh Kumar moved to outflank one of the terrorists through a veritable hail of bullets. While closing-in, he sustained gun-shot wounds in the abdomen. Disregarding his grievous wounds, he shot and killed the second terrorist. Bleeding profusely, he moved to outflank the third terrorist from his blind side and engaged him in fierce hand to hand combat killing the terrorist with a burst of fire, before succumbing to his injuries. Havildar Rajesh Kumar showed unparalleled feat of most conspicuous gallantry, fortitude and the rare spirit of self-sacrifice in fighting the terrorists.

  1. I Salute the braveheart!!! we shall remain grateful to these warriors who made supreme sacrifices.
    REST IN PEACE!!!.

it would be nice if some TV Show actually showcased each such cases without much of masalas and have the benefits go to the kit & kin of their family.

  2. Feel proud that we are defended by such braveharts.
Whatever the pakis do..they cant take an inch of our land with soldiers like Rajesh Kumar and the Indian army defending us.

However, it makes me wonder, we are still tackling the insurgencey and the enemy at large with WW2 tactics. Should ideally be using UAV's and other to spot and neutralize the infiltrators. Also the airforce is having dedicated supersonic fighters but not close infantary support aircraft whose need was acutely felt in Kargil.

Some better investment is all thats needed. Hope in coming r day parades we are giving out awards to UAV operators and none posthumous.

  3. Salute to the martyr and his family.
Rest assured this country will forget your name even before the day ends. RIP.

AK Antony, will you care to provide suitable bulletproof jackets to our servicemen. Oh heck, you live in Z-security so no worries. All iz well.

  4. Brave Rajput soldier.

But I refuse to celebrate. The levels of casualties faced by the army in Kashmir are unacceptable. They should NOT NEED to be heroes. I want them coming back alive with no medals rather than in a box.

Is the army doing enough to update it's tactics/equipment and minimize casualties? Let's see.

Equipment: Extremely inadequate.Just a couple of billion would go a long way in upgrading infantry equipment.Infantry is the hardest job in the world and making life easier for them is a national priority.

They need adequate protection gear, better weapons and good clothing.Be it the load carrying equipment or the weapon, everything is substandard right now. If the Indigenous stuff is shit, don't use it.

Specialist equipment: In a theatre like Kashmir, this is extremely important. Stuff like cornershot, IED suppression systems, 'See through wall' radars etc. I'm sure the army has drawn a list which will 'one day' be addressed by GoI/MoD.

This stuff is more important than tanks, missiles and submarines.

    Service conditions:

Higher pay, Living conditions while on duty(entertainment, medical, psychological and physical well being, Good food and ration).

Officers must ENSURE the safety, comfort and well being of soldiers on duty- that is the officers primary duty.

Rules of engagement: Collateral damage cannot be allowed against our own citizens, that is true. But if a terrorist is found in some bush somewhere or isolated in, say a park: Rain fire instead of sending troops in. Send a fucking Apache/Mi24 with rockets and 30mm auto cannons. If they don't have accurate weapons for the job like Apaches, buy/lease some.Even ISAF/NATO leases Russian helicopters in Afghanistan.

I don't know how General Deepak Kapur and AK Antony sleep at night while casualties come in. If I was in charge, I would resign.

  5. Jay hind & l froud of you (aap hmesha hmare. sath the aur sath rhenge. aap ke balidan par ham sab bhartiyon ko naaz he ki aap jo desh ke liye apna jeevan arpan bkiya.. jai hind…….?)
