  1. Interesting picture frame in the background. Humiliating Pakistani surrender in Dhaka 1971. Wonder if Mr Gates looked at it.

  2. Good pic on the back drop, only if the visiting American counterpart if mindful of the same and is constructive and practical on deciding on what to include on a military aid to Pakistan of fighting terrorism.
Don't see that happening right now.

Why don't you write an article on Why our defense sector fails to deliver indigenous products. i.e. why we favor foreign private corporations for our defense needs over local private firms. If Arjun MBT project was given to TATA or L&T, I am confident it would have been completed on time. Isn't it much better to pay Tata then Russian tank maker?
The truth is that brightest Indian minds are not in Indian govt. but either in the USA or in private sector. No ambitious scientist will work in DRDO if he has a chance to work in NASA/ Wipro/ M&M.

  4. >Gen Arora always looks good and handsome. 🙂

Yes, he is intently watching Niazi so that he can slap him with his backhand if he pisses his pants while signing the instrument.

  5. What 3 Billion ?? 10 C-17's ?? plus what else………..1000+4000 Javelins/100+400 Strykers/145+ M777's ULH ???? 15 Chinooks ?? 20 Apache's ??? 6 more C-130's ? plus Jaguar-Honeywell engines ?? F414's for Teja's Mk2's………………………………and, Shiv, where is Prasun ? his site is dead/no article in latest Force magazine ?? any news ??

  6. DJ@9:44 when you talk of Wipro, M&M doing defence work they can but I don't think they have the stomach to put up with the dreaded mantralaya delays where files move slower than snails, payments disbursements with corruption, overbearing babus looking for placements for their children etc. The amount of paperwork in deals is so alien to these companies in today's times.Interference is taken as a birthright being paymasters. So much more…

  7. Shiv,
Please please for gods sake. Please identify all the people in that picture in the background.
Everyone knows who Gen Aurora and Niazi are. But we need to know who all are the people in the background. This is as iconic a picture as the US's flag raisers on Iwo Jima – the americans have identified each of the flag raising people, even followed them through their careers.

Please use your sources to identify and track all the people in that picture, from the suited-booted babu seated to the left of Niazi to the Sikh soldier peeping in from the back. Please do a small piece on where they all went after that memorable day.

    regards

  8. Ya.. Prasun just vanished into thin air..It would have been nice of him..if he officially put a closure posting in his blog for benefit of his blog followers..
@anon Apache really?..it costs a lot more than a jet fighter..dont see much benefit in buying such expensive stuff from US of A. We could have stick with more USA defence stuff..if friendly ppl like Bush-McClain were in White House..Now Obama and Admin officials like Hillary try hard not to visit India..goes to Japan,Korea,China..and then straight goes back to home..and they are sleeping on reprocessing agreements and all..better stick with Israel,Swedish and some Russian Junk…

  9. Iconic picture on the wall !If only that peace had lasted, then we would not have white trash like Gates trying to sell us their stupid weapons

  10. Have to commend the vested commentators for distracting the discussion away from suspected Nexus of the two to the picture in the background that is widely available on internet.

Next time please photoshop the background image so that people can focus on the suspected nexus brewing between the two.

  11. Anthony ji is always pathetically dressed. Here he appears to be beating this years severe winter of Delhi with a shawl and what appears to be a sweater underneath. He could have worn the national dress of India the bandgala coat and trouser. This should be made mandatory for office hours for all positions of such eminence in the Govt.
