  1. Till when must we look at these pics and mockups? When will we get to see the real thing? Will this bird ever fly? Or will it become another LCA???
–The signs say it will be…

  2. Please do not post such images. It is fine not to report on LCH progress if there is not much news but we become a laughing stock of others when such images of components are posted. We even did this with LCA. No nation posts such images to convince that work is going on.

  3. Judging from the descriptions in the first diagram, will the pilot be sitting in front of the WSO?

I know that is how the French version of the Tigre is setup but is India going with the same setup too?

  4. when is the real thing coming out of these diagrams.I think instead of waiting we need to buy Apaches & kamov's.When these LCH come out we can replace our mi-35 and 24 in large numbers.

  5. The first flight will be next month, which he said a month ago. Common Guys, the Government should hold this people responsible. Or give them a stipulated time to fly the prototype or say get lost, we are going for foreign ones.

  6. Shiv Aroor said…

Word is that the LCH will make its first flight in April.

yaaa… was supposed to be feb, then march. on april 1 HAL may announce that LCH is indeed an April fool.

  7. Shiv G, please don't rely on the HAL dead line dates they are masters at making fools of good people like you, please don't tell people it will fly in April or like you previous post "Any Day now". I have no faith in HAl capability what so ever as they shown with the basic trainer saga. HAL is happy making toilet seats or some door hinge for boeing.

  8. Hey Shiv,

All these designs and prototypes et al. LCA< LCH, MBT…all these projects are like white elephants. When will we be able to design, produce and put to use all this equipment that is still in R&D.

Doesn't it just seem like such a waste of money.

  9. Pan Indian Maratha Mind ;)

Actually this design of the LCH is sub -par to the latest helicopter designs like apache, which due to their smaller width are super manouverable. This is just an internal reconfiguration of the cockpit of basi HAL Dhruv to make it a 'truly' attack helicopter.

The Width needs to be reduced significantly to allow for greater payload of attack weapons and better manouverability. This will need the design and development of different sized components with better performance.

HAL is 'disappointing' from the word go since they are aiming very low with this kind of design

The 'look' will be important also because if it does not look sleek like the 'foreign ' helicopters our army tends to reject these kind of indegenopus products starightaway. (remember the sloped turret issue with arjun MBT)

HAL .Time to shoot a bit higher

  10. A question: Why is the pilot seated in the forward cockpit instead of the gunner?

The gunner, if seated in the forward cockpit, has better forward visibility. The pilot, if seated in the rear cockpit, has a better field of view.

  11. Its time we give a bit more credit to our chaps.
Yes,there are bureaucratic delays, inefficiencies and ambiguous policy directives plaguing our projects.
But we should not takeaway credit of the hard work and effort being put in.

Especially by reference to what foreign helicopters look or appear to be.

The Turkish prototype T-129,despite being virtually an Italian project, built around a existing and inducted design has crashed.

Lets not rush things and let things come at their pace.
