  1. I've always wondered as to why the steel hull doesn't looks smooth enough on our ships when compared to western counterparts. Why is that?

  2. build quality on the ship exterior looks shoddy, indicating poor worksmanship

this is certainly not up to standard

  3. bad welding/welding stresses/buckling……………that's what causes this miserable look……………..MDL has just not been able to get that right

  4. the Steel is indian (developed by SAIL) as against the Russian (D-50 ?)steel on the Talwar-class. and, the welding process seems pretty shoddy causing the buckling

  5. This shoddy look only proves that MDL, supposed to be the most advanced ship building yard in India, doesn't has latest ship building tech.No wonder the Talwar Class looks like it has been made from a single giant metal plate, whereas Shivalik looks like millions of plates welded together. MDL, get your workmen and management trained on best practices and also keep abreast with latest ship building tech.

It's been 20 years difference between the two. And yes when ever we criticize, someone instead of correcting those mistakes tries to defend them. This is the reason why development lags and moves at a snail's pace because of people like yourself and the babu's bureaucracy in our government.
