Wait, does the LR-SAM incorporate a booster? If not, are there versions of the systems in the works that will?

    Thanks

Excellent! One thing that the Indian Navy's always lagged behind in is Aegis-type radars and SAM systems. Although we're not quite there yet(range and altitude needs further improvement to match the Aster-30 and SM-2 LR-SAMs) this is a good first step.

However I am apprehensive about exactly how much of this 'joint' development is Indian. The thrust vector control system sounds far too advanced for our institutions' current level of expertise, and no doubt a good part of the guidance system is also Israeli. Even the radar is Israeli. What did DRDO contribute then?

Based upon this improved technology, India should indigenously develop different missile systems.

IIRC, Aster 30 is a 30 km range system so hows it better (in range) than LR SAM?

Also Aster 30 has had only 1 test (sucessful) so far. Again LR SAM, in its development phase is ahead of Aster 30.

    Anyone?

Friends you ask me about the contribution of DRDO? I have personally been a part of LRSAM development in India. It is one hell of a missile. Israel and India both started working together in this project from scratch. So no way any one can say that it is a mere copy. All the way Indian farms have preceded Israeli counterparts in speed and quality. It was us who completed the first sets. But as per agreements the initial production was bought by Israel. I can assure we are soon going to be strengthened by this new arrow in our quiver.
