MMRCA RUMOUR: MiG-35 Out, Details Tomorrow

  1. Mig-35 is out because we are acquiring more and more Su-30 MKI. A 'junior' Su-30 MKI does not bring anything new to the table, whereas western fighters with their better engines and electronics do.

Besides IAF does not have the time to babysit the Mig-35 till it matures into a fully functional platform. This is why Gripen or Rafale is going to be selected.

  2. Too many rumours, this thing is turning into a big joke. IAF and MOD are to blame for this dumbness. Why cant IAF rank the planes and give a clear signal on what they want. After all, they are the ones who will be riding in them. One thing that comes to mind: LACK OF LEADERSHIP. This translates into lack of accountability. No one in IAF seems to be the one saying this is what we want… why, because if they get criticized, either during this transaction or in the future, then they will have to take responsibility for making a choice. The current situation allow IAF to blame MOD and MOD to blame IAF if something turns sour. FOR ONCE GROW SOME B***S AND TAKE A STAND. We need a leader who is not afraid to be wrong. Sadly, I do not see this changing in the near future. CHALTA HAI BHAI, SUB CHALTA HAI.

  3. hey y there is hike in su-30mki…..some are saying that the price is hiked because of integrating bhramos missile, newer systems…..is this price justified…????plz explain ….

  4. This was ensured because, this aircraft is normal structurel modification on mig 29, bad service record in Indian Air Force comperison between western aircraft, also in spare and pats supply.

  5. This was ensured because, this aircraft is normal structural modification on MIG-29M, bad service record in INDIAN AIR FORCE comparision between western aircraft, also in spare and parts supply, and we have also bought navel version MIG-29K as same capability.

  6. Typhoon / Rafael is excellent fighter with more capable , and Rafael is better in carry load with more hardpoints mica with meteor AAM will rule combat edge against chinks .

  7. If this is true & I sincerely wish this comes true. Bl***y Russians(Pardon my language) they sell their outdated & Discarded tech @ 3 times the new price & our policy makers still indepted for the help, during the 1971 War has tip toed their demands.
Hope this drives home the point to the Russians, if they mean business, so do we.

  8. BECAUSE IT IS TIME TO CHANGE PARTNER

deal for aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov was hammered in 2004 for $974 million (Rs4,560 crore), but it was renegotiated in 2010 at $2.3 billion (Rs10,770 crore).

Latest figures tabled in parliament 40 + 2 Sukhois (2 are replacements for aircraft that crashed last year), to be manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) al price of $4.3 billion (Rs20,125 crore), that is $102 million (Rs480 crore) a piece.but Lockheed Martin F-35 are priced at $100

Typical Indian mentality when we have some money we get arrogant.Remember this same Russia(USSR) who provided us with state of the art weapons with soft loans when we needed it those time we did not have have the money and west was supplying to TSP only Russia provided us with Weapons in the time of need. So don't badmouth them for some minor setbacks by them.Try to be little Grateful to them.

A rumor is just a rumor let the results be announced.

  10. Indeed you can change partners but you will find that our western systems cost a bit more than the russian ones. Look at what you will pay for the c-130 and c-17. You had a big airforce on the cheap and you expect that to continue :-). You expect to recieve su-30 which is supposed to be the 'best fighter' at the same price as the m2k upgrade? hmmm something is not right.

As india moves away from russia it will find it has to pay the market prices. Its deal sizes are normal in the international scene so don't expect too much leverage or crying will help either. Just look at the saudi-usa deal….a wopping 60 billion plus…oh.

  11. I think the price hike is as a result of a mig decision.

The SAAB Gripen is the best option for India and Brazil to consider with South Africa and hopefully it can promote missile technology co-operation as with the a-darter

Part of your assessment I agree with which is unjustified rage by some commentators. They perhaps don’t understand Politics/Business.
However, we don’t need to be thankful to the Russians either. When we didn’t have money they still sold us third rate weapons not as charity but because it helped in creating their kind of world. It bought them influence.
A look at Cuba – Soviet relationship prior to and after the Fall of Commies will tell you how much the Ruskies value their friends. Forget friends look at Russians treatment of their own whom they consider non ethnic Russians (Caucasus, Grozny was once the most bombed out city in the world). You should read how many non ethnic Russians ( Baltics, central asian men) were forced in the Afgan war by the Soviet Army to know what Russians do to their own.
When it comes to the Soviets or Russians, only their views matter (world domination prior 90s and Money post 90s). They never had any friend only subservient states or business partners.
As for this news, I wish it were true.

  13. Russian a/c and components are not really cheaper than western ones anymore. Look at the unit price for the latest Su-30 MKI.

Besides, even with lower initial price Russian equipment turns out to be more expensive in long run due to frequent replacement of time limited and other consumable parts. Not to mention the stress this shorter service life philosophy puts on logistical chain of defense services.
