  1. LUH will be replacing current work horse Chetak, Cheetah of Indian Army and Indian Ari force.

It is a further good step towards indigenisation.

  2. hey itz so cool……when we can the actual machine roaring the indian skies……i hope hal makes this operational in nxt 2 years…..till that time letz keep our fingers crossed…..

  3. HAL design something which the armed forces will not reject or which the CAG after induction severely criticize otherwise it appears to be good step towards indigenisation..

  4. The Indian navy seem to be losing edge in Indigenous development.
I'm afraid that they are moving from a builders navy to a purchasers navy.
The rejection of Dhruv can be understood. But they must support the LUH and the new Medium Heli being built by HAL. These two are best suited for the replacement of Cheetah, Chetaks and the seaking, Kamov helis. The improved version of Anti-sub fittings of the Dhruv can be fitted to the new Medium heli.

  5. The LUH itself will take at least 5years to reach IOC and the naval version will take another couple yeasr for the necessary modifications. So it's not surprising that the navy is going for a foreign purchase. As a matter of fact the main reason the IAF is ordering this is because the MoD cancelled their original LUH tender and made them split their order between HAL and a foreign buy.
