Coming up… at 6.30AM Tomorrow

I’m onto some excellent info on evolutionary technologies that the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) is exploring for India’s fifth generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) — technologies envisaged and on the table as a direct step from the Tejas programme experience. Will post as soon as I get a moment to compile it all together. Stay tuned.

  1. Shiv, amca is going to be a phenomenal aircraft after tejas. Many feel that Indians have wasted money on tejas but reality is we have invested, for a country as young as india to develop an aircraft like tejas is a huge great achievement.after all tejas is going to be piloted by world's best pilots(iaf),they will make tejas even more deadly.after amca gets developed the whole world will understand that india is a force to reckon with when it comes to weapons developing.i am eagerly waiting for tejas ioc.

  2. what about lca story………….you have promised it lot of time but it never happened? hope it doesnt happen with your mca story

  3. I would like it if you included details on proposed foreign partnerships. India isn't the only nation interested in a medium-class fifth-generation fighter: South Korea, Japan, France Sweden all have interest in such a program, and Japan is even developing a prototype to evaluate the technology. If we pool our money and efforts, developing a stealth fighter to compare with the F-35 will be a very real possibility.

  4. man,ur like t.v serials, jab b vahi purani typical news dekh ke blog chhod dene ka mann karta hai, tabhi koi dhinchak/awesome news post kar dete ho.anyways, keep up the gud work.:-)

  5. Coming up…

Eagerly awaited… It has to be techno-economically superior than the F-35 to withstand the global market and the vagaries of the WW-3.

  6. Whatever may be evolutionary technologies that is brought by ADA, would still need to be implemented by the iron-age HAL.

  7. I hope they aim for something which is well within ADA's reach and not end up designing something which is time consuming like LCA. IAF or ADA should sit and decide what all things that are possible rather than what all things they want. It shouldn't be like LCA, a tailess delta winged aircraft which many countries around the world had given up researching due to its complexity.

  8. I am afraid this will turn out to be another dream of the moist variety for the hindistani's. By that time the LCA MKII would be transformed into LCA MKIV, whist the MKI and MKII will only be produced to service the museums. IAF is more likely to opt for F-35, PAKFA then this….remember this date! and it would make more sense for them to do so. Why develop your own when you can buy off the shelf…its cheaper all round. The death of the Indian aero industry is/will be because they can buy whatever they want.

  9. Folks, let me name this baby-DRAGON SLAYER. HOWZZAT 4 a name!!!o yeah!(intelligent guys can easily guess why i came up wid a name like that).peace

  10. SherKhan,

I guess you are a Pakistani.Ask this question to PAF. Why are they spending a fortune to jointly develop a jet when they can get the same product at a far cheaper rate from Chinese shelves?
Iran during Shah's rule used to get western weapons systems even before they were inducted in western armed forces. Today they are reverse engineering those same 1970 and 60 era weapons system to keep their armed forces reasonably modern. If they had done what Turkey is doing today, then Iran would be in a far stronger position.
We will buy F35 and PAKFA and use those technologies to develop our own 5th Gen fighter no matter how much time it takes.
Rationale for making the Tejas is to learn how to make state of the art jet fighters, and not to compete with China or Pakistan in building record number of cheap low quality jets in short time.China today has no knowhow wrt to composites ergo JF17 hardly has any composites whereas Tejas is the only jet in the world which is almost entirely built out of carbon composites like Formula 1 race cars.

  11. Even though i am a regular visitor 2 ur blogs but i cudn't help but agree more with Anons 7:06pm & 7:46pm.. and if u recall u were supposed to tell us about the reported 40 Rafales being considered for special air ops .. which were not 2 be operated by the IAF.. i.e..http://livefist.blogspot.com/2010/09/pti-indias-joint-nuclear-command-wants.html

What about this scoop?.. Shiv i hope u r not adopting to sensationalism just 2 boost readership..anyways hope 2 read some awesome news on AMCA.. Thanks and keep up the good work!

  12. 10:45 PM & Sherkhan…….

The Tejas has a night vision goggles (NVG)-compatible "glass cockpit" head-up display (HUD), three 5 in x 5 in multi-function displays, two Smart Standby Display Units (SSDU), and a "get-you-home" panel (providing the pilot with essential flight information in case of an emergency. The CSIO-developed HUD, Elbit-furnished DASH helmet-mounted display and sight (HMDS), and hands-on-throttle-and-stick (HOTAS), fly-by-wire (FBW) flight control system (FCS) state-of-the-art radar supplemented by a laser designator pod, forward-looking infra-red (FLIR), ring laser gyro (RLG)-based inertial navigation system (INS), jam-resistant communication systems such as the IFF transponder/interrogator, VHF/UHF radios, air-to-air/air-to-ground datalinks. The ADA Systems Directorate's Integrated Digital Avionics Suite (IDAS), stores management system (SMS), high-throughput mission computer, Multi-Mode Radar, track-while-scan (TWS), and ground-mapping functions. It features look-up/look-down modes, low-/medium-/high-pulse repetition frequencies (PRF), platform motion compensation, doppler beam-sharpening, moving target indication (MTI), Doppler filtering, constant false-alarm rate (CFAR), EW suite, known as "Mayavi"(Illusionist), radar warning receiver (RWR), self-protection jammer, laser warning system, missile approach warning system, and chaff/flare dispenser, radar-absorbent material (RAM), helmet-mounted display and sight (HMDS), carbon-fibre composite (CFC), automatic flight control system (AFCS), Control & Coding Unit (CCU), Mission Preparation & Data Retrieval Unit (MPRU), Environment Control System Controller (ECSC), Engine and Electrical Monitoring System Electronics Unit (EEMS-EU), Digital Fuel Monitoring System Electronics Unit (DFM-EU) and Digital Hydraulics and Brake Management System Electronics Unit (DH-EU)…………..need some more?

  13. Shiv, Great job.

when you present a report on this also please add how it is going to be different from FGFA (apart from Size and No. of Pilots) and how IAF sees use to it.

Also some more news on LCA Tejas and Arjun Tank please.

  14. @ SherKhan

kuch loog aalu kha ke Sher bante hain. AAsli Sher to shikari hote hain. To sher ke chamdi me koie lomdi to nahi ho aap????

    Lagta to aaisa hi hai.

agar itni nafrat hai Hindustaniyon se to chini tissue paper istamaal kero. Wo aap loogo ke kaam aayega.
