  1. Its a landing ship but who is it landing since we don't have marines. Please elaborate on the customers of INS Jalashwa if you can get any hard facts. We probably know more about the MARCOS than the 314th Ind Bde.

  2. Another murky deal is the Jalashwa. A ship over 40 years old. What a waste of Indian money. Imagine in the year 2010 a ship thats steam powered that would leave an endless smoke trail behind it, what is the chance of its survival in a real conflict. Pity the men on board. Anyway our policy makers never had much value for these precious lives as there were more important things like filling their own pockets to deal with. We should have gone for much more modern ships like the french Mistral class instead of buying such American junk.

  3. I could not envisage a war scenario wherein Jalashwa may be making an amphibian landing except perhaps at bangladesh.

Even if this may be true but it shall not matter much, because Jalashwa may be otherwise also useful in other war aspects.

  4. hey shiv…do try to figure out if this hippo is actually rusting etc…..need an impartial assessment….thxs

  5. USS Trenton may seem like a murky deal. yes, money would have definitely made through some kickbacks but under the current condition of INS Viraat , some ship was needed as a stop gap arrangement and this ship is serving that purpose. Is badly needed till indian IAC's will join INavy

  6. INS Jalashwa may be old but where else could we have gotten a readymade amphibious vessel of that size? The Royal Navy is only retiring its amphib fleet(due to cost cuts) now, maybe we should have waited a few more years to acquire one but it's still a better deal than what we got for the Vikramaditya.
