follow the link…in the report "the sunday gaurdian" people have put the pic of mig-29 with caption mirage-2000h…this shows how reliable news it is 😀
Blows after blows from the monopoly. Take it or don't take it.
MMRCA numbers shall not be increased beyond 126.
Check if Israel can upgrade the Mirage-2000s at competitive prices.
Apart from EFT, Gripen and Mig-35 with desired modifications may also be considered for MMRCA.
@ Abhisar: absolutely.. never knew the the Mirage 2000Hs had twin tails LOL
For God sake, can our defence reporters atleast care to check the report before they publish. A Mig-29 shown as Mirage 2000H!
Can they atleast understand that people reading defence related news do know what Mirage 2000H looks like!
This aricle by rahul is funny. So many errors,so according to Rahul are we paying nearly 3 billion per upgrade :). 'cos it looks like its worded that way.
You should not put such articles on your blog.
If India goes for Rafale then it will have to pay for its (future) developments in the future besides the extraordinary French fries prices. Sofar the French have no export customer so I would not take the risks.
Even if the French deal is highly expensive, this is just another smear campaign against Rafale and Rahul Bedi is doing somebody's hatchet job. Actually he would write for anybody who pays him money for it and nothing important that is written in HT is either reliable or worth reading.
HT, the NDTV Group and IBN are loss-making companies whose revenues mainly come from bribes for writing 'paid news' which are basically advertisements/swear campaigns in the guise of news articles.
Stupid and very doubtful article. Either journalists don't know what to invent to make the buzz, either some of them are paid by third parties to do so. Pity.
"Military and armament industry sources" = competitors ! How a serious journalist could fall in such trenches ? And well, France is desperate ? That made me laugh, the best joke of the day ! As serious as the picture supposed to represent a Mirage, lol !
How A Press Article Becomes The Truth, Amen. So much against Rafale those days, nobody wonders why ?
MiG-29 picture for a Mirage-2000!
This article's veracity cannot be verified. Not to forget the many grammatical and factual errors made in the article.
I think somebody is financing a hate campaign against Dassault.
Amusingly ignorant article.
Goes into such amazing detail for a generalist newspaper, yet fails to mention the basic facts about the Mirage upgrade negotiations to date… Besides that it includes modern advanced BVR missiles not normally included in aircraft upgrade price quotes, the interesting fact that Dassault/Thales dropped the price immensely during negotiations, after finding lower price options thru partnering with indigenous Indian producers. This is against the backdrop of Dassault telling Greece they simply won't upgrade their Mirage 2000 EGM/BGM because the relevant production lines are closed.
Further, how could one remotely justify his final conclusion that IAF doesn't find the upgrade a good deal for value with the fact that IAF has stated they were satisfied with the negotiations and assumed the deal could be wrapped up within a month?
Strangely, given the amount of space spent on tangential details, he gives no clue whatsoever as to the nature of this linkage with the Rafale MMRCA bid. It seems reasonable to imagine that Dassault would see possible synergies between the M2K upgrade and the Rafale production line they would establish under MMRCA, and would seek to clarify that by offering IAF a better deal if they indeed won both items. If they don't actually win MMRCA, such synergies wouldn't exist, so it would be unreasonable to expect the same deal.
But of course, after that first line 'Insidious French attempts', we all must have expected a level-headed, informative article, right?
Rafale would have been the optimum and so best MMRCA. It will be utterly unfortunate if this news is true.
In that case only it can be said: …Thou too France.
Ra :If the upgrade work is done by the Israelis, then for sure the Mirages will not perform correctly and the armaments will be filled with problems. Israelis upgrade packages create nothing but troubles.
this idiot doesn't know what is a Mirage 2000
rafale ki jai ho
"Insidious…" LOLThe more I read articles guided against the Rafale by these guys, the more I'm tempted to believe that the Rafale, like the LCA and the Arjun, must be a really great product, and must be close to getting the nod for MMRCA.
What is the point picking Dassault Rafale when you could of upgrade Mirage 2000H? Is time India to choose different nation aircraft instead of Russia, UK, and France.
MMRCA Competitor:(Which MTRAF should win?)
-Eurofighter Typhoon:(Too Expensive, maneuverable, Advance Technology / Avionics, & AESA radar is still underdevelopment)
-Dassault Rafale:(India already operate Mirage 2000H, AESA radar is still underdevelopment, maneuverable, it loose many time in FX-2 program, expensive, operate in Air Force, and Navy).
-Mig-35 Fulcrum:(Cheap, AESA radar underdevelopment, maneuverable, 3D TVC, & what is the point that India already buy RD-33 OVT to upgrade their Mig-29).
-JAS 39 Gripen:(less Expensive than Typhoon/Rafale, Low Tech, maneuverable, & AESA radar still underdevelopment)
-F-16E/F Block 60:(Cheap, AN/APG-80 AESA Radar, advance tech/avionics, internal fuel, Maneuverable, Pakistan already operate F-16, 5th Gen. Tech, & useful against J-10B/FC-20.
-F-18E/F Super Hornet Block II:(Cheaper than Typhoon/Rafale/Gripen, AN/APG-79 AESA Radar, 5th Gen. Cockpit, Internal Fuel, Advance Avionic/Tech, & carry up to 10-13 missiles).
rafale is bringing the fire in libya and killing muammar's mercenaries, this article looks like a counterfire
Anon at 1:03PM got it right on I think. What's so strange that Dassault will try to link Mirage upgrade with MMRCA purchase? Standard business offering – you buy more, you get a better price. Any business would try to link the two to convince the buyer that they will get better overall price. The inferences and logic in the article not withstanding, the linkage of the two deals, if true, should come as no surprise.
What a joke!!! Rahul seems to run after buzz…and money from Boeing!
This is not serious press but malicious gossip spread in the frame of this sudden Rafale bashing campaign!
This "paper" does not deserve to be on your blog Shiv!
@ Ra: ask the Navy and CAG how happy they are with the israeli upgraded sea Harrier! And i don't even mention Derby performance…
A Rafale article above a "Rakhi Sawant" article says much about the paper.
It seems that technically Rafale is equal to or a close second to EFT. Rafale has an additional advantage of easily getting converged with Mirage upgrades. Rafale is already a successful ground strike a/c and EFT is yet to prove its mettle in this matter.Further EFT is expected to be costlier. France had been more or less a reliable supplier for longtime.
So there may be some other old a/c behind this smear campaign.
The REAL title of this article should be :
Insidious journo attempts to smear Dassault without backing up his claims.
Any1 claiming Gripen to be Lowtech clearly doesnt know anything about airplanes/fighters…
