Minister Orders, India’s Agni-V To Fly Before Year End

Indian Defence Minister AK Antony today said the country must have a ballistic missile with 5,000-km range. After presenting the DRDO awards today, Antony called upon the organisation to quickly deliver the Agni-V missile.
DRDO must demonstrate its capability to reach the range of 5,000-km at the earliest. The interceptor missile development programme has taken India to an elite club of nations that possess the capability to demonstrate and deploy missile defence. DRDO should now work towards developing a credible ballistic missile defence for our country,” Antony said.

Speaking to reporters later, DRDO chief Vijay Kumar Saraswat said that the Agni-V test launch will take place before the end of this year.

  1. I am pretty darn happy right now, just a few days ago I read that tests were about to be delayed to March 2012, but now it seems things are back on track. With an missile that can strike anywhere in China and can carry MIRVs we will finally have an devastating deterrent.

  2. Good going Antony !

The text in the pic should have either read as Defence Minister in plain English or Raksha Mantri in Hindi.

  3. This is a MRV ICBM. The AGNI-4 which we already have is an ICBM. Antony is a brave and honest man. a great Indian nationalist.

  4. Atlast, we have a minister who actually cares. Antony has done a good job, he is not from military background and no way related to defense before in his career. He quickly understanding our needs.

  5. Good.

The Agni-V should be ready in sufficient numbers before Papi Paindabad and Red Dragon China even think of attacking India.

  6. When will India realize that being part of an elite club cannot ensure its security? No matter that India may fall in the elitist of all elite clubs in certain matters, but it continues to be second class compared to China in defense and security, and there's the rub!

Indians, as a group, are plain stupid, and it somehow never gets across to them!
