  1. I have doubts..MoD wud again be unhappy about the fact that only 2 contenders(better than a single vendor situation) were there and may just go for FMS route for the Apache(win win)..Can somebody please list the basic performance/capability differences between Mi28 and AH64..
And why was the Ka-50/52 alligator not part of the contention(considering it contemporary with the Mi28 and from the same country)..is it because of weight/class? And how better is the apache than the LCH?…Shiv u may contribute too its ur blog after all ;p

  2. IAF must be the greatest importing organization in the history of mankind. Whatever they do is the greatest gift to the country. Both the serving as well as the retired IAF people must be the most prolific contributors to knowledge on air warfare in the whole world. Nobody else can import like the IAF can. Happy importing !!

  3. No wonder IAF wants to patent their aircraft evaluation system. How fortunate the country is to have such a terrific importing organisation. Who else in the world can import so well under such difficult environment ( They have to put up with GoI, DRDO, HAL). That is why they write so often about the difficulties they face with these entities.

  4. They are such good importers that they do not carry out summer trials in the April / May months for imports. These months are important only for the 'local' maal.

  5. It must be an incredible job to keep track of the number if things IAF has to import. Heck it must be difficult to remember even the names of so many aircraft, with so many alpha numeric suffixes. IAF can be forgiven if they do not know why they need these aircraft. That so many aircraft are being imported is achievement enough. Great going IAF.

  6. nothing to be proud nearly 5 lakh
    Engineer passing out every year.
where gone the IIIt's which is suppose to be best in india. These government agency not even capable of developing their heli Fighter engine tank's…..Time to invest in R & D rather then begging from Rsssia and USA.

  7. Somehow India has to compensate the loss to US in MMRCA.
Boeing will get this contract for sure.

This is a very good attack helicopter, and has proven track record.

However, will we get Longbow Radar along with this?

  8. Shiv, Thanks for the video. This is a good tool to have on ones belt. But, if I remember correctly, there was a steep learning curve during the early years with Apache, and a lot of helicopters and pilots were lost in the process. I hope the Indian forces can learn from these mistakes and minimize their losses.

  9. Mi28 flyway cost comes to $ 600 Million and AH64 reaches to $1.2 B , too high, india has optional another 22 nos AH 64 . Ka 52 is more or equal to AH64.

  10. The US is the only military with an offensive doctrine for attack helos. The Russians believe that attack helos cannot operate in a hostile environment. Doctrine determines what kind of hardware you produce. That's why if you want a real attack help you buy American not russian.

  11. Apache AH-64 is battle proven while the Mi-28 not used in the war yet.

My choice bring Ka-52. Indeed a powerful gunship.
