Coming Up.. A Weekend Filming The Navy & MARCOS In The Andaman Sea

Am back in Delhi. I couldn’t catch a strong mobile signal out at sea, so I couldn’t post more photos and stuff, but I will now. It’s been an outstanding few days, one of the best shoots I’ve ever had. The photo above is of two Marine Commandos just off their inflatable at Rutland Island, Andaman. Lots more coming up. Stay tuned!

  1. MARCO on the right is holding INSAS

MARCO on the left a rifle of the AK series doesn't look to be AK-47 as the muzzle is a little bit different i think it is the AK-103 as the MARCOS use it.

  2. gr8…a marcos with an insas..the other is an ak..but insas..puke…how sad is that….

why don't we ever equip our special forces with decent stuff? – hurts me like hell.

  3. I have read about the landing at Coxs Bazar during 1971. Obviously some things have gone for sea change towards good.

  4. They seem to be missing eye wear. And WFT, they've got ski masks which are not waterproof.
Don't look menacing, rather stupid bums

  5. Mr. Anonymous @8:29 PM the soldier at the right is carrying desi INSAS rifle and the left one is carrying AK series rifle.

  6. Marco on right has an INSAS. Even if its a picture pose, which I am sure is not…..Its not a very encouraging one….I would not like one our best spec-ops operators, use a run of the mill infantry weapon…what happened to the AKs and MP5s……

  7. the problem is our commandos are only trained for the nice warm & sun kissed waters in the equitorial zone of the Indian Ocean. If India was to become a blue water navy, shouldn't they train in the North Sea, Bearing Sea etc?

  8. Hey Shiv,

Why are Marcos armed with tar21 ? They received them December last year.

Also is there a plan to modernize Marcos ? They train so hard but they are one of the most ill-equipped force in India.

  9. @Anon 11:31,
its best that training and fighting in real life be left to the Marcos. They fight the real fight in Kashmir,in the cold of Wular lake and lot of places that need not be mentioned. Our guys fight in the coldest and highest battlefield in the world,Siachen.Leave the North sea and Bering sea for the tourists!

  10. Shiv,

    Good Photo.

Firstly, both the Marcos are obviously walking as the water is shallow and their legs can be seen.

If so, then the position of the rifle of the Marco on to the left is non tactical and awful.

When in water, I really do not see a reason for face and mouth to be wrapped making breathing more difficult.

Rucksack is only with one Marcos. Under such an eventuality it should be at the back of both unless being shared one between the two. But who would carry ammunition of the second Marco.

If there is a rucksack in water filled body then it has to be a float and move forward has to be tactical. Rucksack floating on water and Gun on top of it. It has to be used as expedient.

I suggest Navy starts sending Marcos on foreign competitions and exercises along with Army SF and Infantry. They could not have done it in and around Wular lake in face of the terrorists.

    Good Marcos !

    Thanks.

  11. @Anon1:26,please do not read so much on a posed photographs or who has the rucksacks! The MARCOS have been carrying out missions since operation Pawan in Sri-Lanka against the LTTE and they have trained with several elite forces of the world.Regard the way rucksacks are hauled, let the experts decide that!Do remember though that MARCOS will not like rucksacks floating around like flotsam or shoulder them while standing exposed on beachhead.Since you like the seals,do see what they do.

  12. is INSAS a very bad rifle? or we don't like it/not liking it in the hand of MARCOS as it's purely Made in India?

    😀

btw Shiv, nice picture and some nice writing in some def. forum. 😉

    Joy
