  1. The French Dassault Rafale going to win today.

The French Dassault Rafale is cheaper, already have AESA radar on it, super maneuverable, easy to maintain, and cooler than Eurofighter Typhoon.

  2. Hi Shiv,

Are the bids being opened in presence of news media? Or is this being witnessed only by the reps of the two competitors and of course MOD babus?

    Thanks
    AP

  3. Awesome so Shiv tell us this. By today we will know which of the two fighters we will be having? Can there be any scenario where it is delayed again.

  4. Let the deal finally materialized and there should be no cancellation as before usually done by our corrupt and bribe loving minister.

  5. I really hope that this time MoD gives this a final clearance.

The process has been slow and ardous. And it doesn't matter who wins as long as it progresses.

I would be upset if something puts a spanner in the works (read benchmarking / F 35 JSF etc).

    Keep us updated Shiv !!!

  6. Whoever wins, its a loss to India in long term, failure to induct Tejas into mainstream airforce, then the time frame in which this mmrca fighters will reach India just makes this deal a futile one. On the other hand, pilots will continue to die in aging Mig-21, the best course of action would be to replace Mig-21 asap with likes of gripen or F-15 or even Tejas, and allow the FGFA to take lead which is a fifh gen. fighter(And the cost would be lower than the EU counterparts). In the end, thanks to the corruption, the leaders would not think like that alas. Talk about taking F-35 directly without the bids and without corruption, guess the cost equals to the so proclaimed mother of all deals MMRCA.

  7. [email protected]: Confidential, boss! Can I have some of what you're smoking? 😛

AP: Please refer to above answer 😀

[email protected]: The lowest bidder should be officially known in December.

Hari: I love my country, but you and I both know that there are *always* scenarios where delays can happen 🙂 One can only hope such a scenario doesn't present itself. For the IAF's sake at least.

  8. Wat ever…… we r just licensing it with our tax to boost Europeans economy.

I doubt why should we ever wanted MMRCA

Instead of this we should hav concentrated on our leadership, resource and research on indigestion or at least joint developments.

Bcoz we r no more third world country.

But only our major problem is "lack of good leadership".

Thus our research & resources are wasted as time & money respectively.

    Wat do u peoples think???????

  9. @Aravind: Said this words… ''Wat ever…… we r just licensing it with our tax to boost Europeans economy. I doubt why should we ever wanted MMRCA''… to any IAF personal… He/She will surely slap you.

  10. Thanks Aravind for good words for India. But I think your statements dont bode as we see our country today.

    1. India tried indignation and the results are LCA. LCA II – both of them not very successful. Our airforce chief labelled it as MIG21++

    2. We are a third world country. India GDP/Capita is just over $1100 – not middle income country by any imagination. 42% of the country is poor.

With MRCA, there is a possibility that our scientists might get enough ToT to jumpstart our defence tech. Besides, there could be lot of opportunities of co-development, where our scientists can learn a lot from high tech western companies.

  11. can someone please tell me what the significance of this is? Opening the "bids" seems to me that they are jsut confirming the prices that were quoted initially. Is this all or am i missing something?

  12. Rafels will win because they are the best as india has to train mirage pilots easily…. and also fewer changes in hals facility..
