next few months? Is that feb next year or is it it September next year. Is this the Indian style of being vague and creating a margin to successfully include delays.

@Anon 11:02 PM The second and third are already under construction as per some sites. Infact some sites have published the name of the second one also as "INS Aridaman". The third one is as yet unnamed.

Good news…but we have a long way to go.need a long range ballistic missile to really create an impact(a paltry 2000-3000km will not help).
    Shiv,
Soon the Indian Navy will be inducting 2 carriers.are there any plans to go for a heavy missile cruiser???

IMHO: As much as we would like to hear, i think news regarding N-subs and their operational deployment will not be made public with regards to our no-first use policy. If you see, the exact/approximate timing of even the INS Chakra (Nerpa) joining the IN have also similarly not been categorically confirmed, who knows when one of these lethal babies is going to join the IN or has already been inducted.

I have to wonder why this submarine is being trialed at Vishakapatnam and not Hazira where it was built. AK Antony and Pallam Raju have badly shafted Larsen and Toubro in their eternal quest to provide max jobs and min competition for the PSU shipyards.

Vizag shipyards' only past experience with submarine consists of trying and failing miserably to upgrade the Indian Navy's Kilos(took even more time and money than sending them to Russia, so ultimately the Navy resumed dispatching them to Russia for repairs). Whereas L & T are the ones who actually built the Arihant hulls, torpedo tubes etc. It should be Hazira shipyard completing their construction.
