It’s a big day for the Indian weapons programme on March 3 with two major systems to be handed over to users. In a formal ceremony in Hyderabad, Defence Minister A.K. Antony will ceremonially entrust to the IAF its first Akash medium-range surface to air missile units, while the Indian Navy will get its first Advanced Light Torpedoes (TAL), both systems developed indigenously by the DRDO.

  1. Well finally DRDO actually delivers a real weapon other then models, blueprints, artwork, design specs and conceptwares. I think that is an achevement in itself regardless of how good the weapon is.

  2. Good news….What abt the SPYDER SAM ….is the deal on track.Shiv can u give some light abt the SPYDER SAM deal..It is supposed to be inducted in 2012..Another news saw in Janes Weekly site…that Indian army has begun trail of 4 carbine systems from 4 foriegn vendors…Shiv can u provide some info on which are the vendors??

  3. Akash was called a failure earlier now it has come back don't want to sound scarcastic but aleast it came into production good going guys

  4. Great going DRDO !!

Akash missile has silenced its critics. And the TAL was never discussed as much as Akash, Arjun or Tejas are. It was so hush-hush and suddenly it has been inducted !

It is a very good surprise. Overall, very good News.
