The P-8I is one of eight long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft Boeing is building for India as part of a contract awarded in January 2009. During the coming months, Boeing test pilots will put the P-8I, a Next-Generation 737-800 derivative, through its paces over a U.S. Navy test range west of Neah Bay, Wash., and a joint U.S./Canadian test range in the Strait of Georgia. P-8I flight and weapons testing follows on the heels of similar testing for the U.S. Navy’s P-8A Poseidon. P-8I is a variant of the Poseidon. In order to efficiently design and build the P-8I and the P-8A, the Boeing-led team is using a first-in-industry, in-line production process that draws on the company’s Next-Generation 737 production system. Assembly is complete on the second P-8I aircraft and it will make its first flight in the coming weeks.The P-8I features open system architecture, advanced sensor and display technologies, and a worldwide base of suppliers, parts and support equipment.
Can we trust the Americans as they have stated that their may be spy ware on products they sell and even if the buyers find out they will not be responsible

Its heartening to see that some of the Navy's projects are finally coming to fruition.

the only reference i have ever read was for a pakistan airforce member and that is very unreliable.

India too bought few BBJ from Boeing US..not sure if Indian agencies have done smiler Electronic Signal Sanitation/Audit and Electrical Auditing exercise..with those planes while the plane is flying..?
@Anon 7 :53 PM – The US does install trojan , listening sensors etc . The DRDO at times sweeps imported military hardware for Trojans. The US spies on India on a regular basis as Wikileaks pointed out . Hillary Clinton had asked CIA to spy on Indian diplomats in the UN. Flaws in iTunes can be used to spy on an individual . As of now India does not have the capability to counter such types of intelligence.
While there is no doubt, there is spyware, kill buttons and backdoors, you got to give it to the Yanks for quick turnaround and delivery. Remember that this is a completely different configuration.

Please note that the Yanks are treating India as a preferred partner in the light of declining defense budget in Europe where the Yanks have traditionally sold. Just take a look at the F 35 program , it is running 3 years behind schedule. What ordinary Indians do not realize is behind the scene the Yanks do a lot of arm twisting of Indian netas . Export models are watered down version of the original models and they never share source code. Not to mention the large scale CIA penetration of Indian political parties , media and business houses.

I believe I read they will be using a Mig-35 & an Su-33 since they don't have a Mig29K at their disposal for the testing. I am unsure as to why the Indian Navy wouldn't lend one of theirs for the testing as that would have constituted a better test – no ?

Most Indian on this blog/forum are totally naive. US has be installing kill switches/bugs on their military hardwares for export. Even Pakis who have been buying US hardware for decades know about it more then us. Never ever take the Yanks on face value. You can never trust them.
India shouldn't be buying shit from the US without complete electronic signal sanitation and auditing.
