New Pictures: 1st Kolkata-class Destroyer Ready For Indian Navy

Spotted these pictures of the elusive lead ship of the Kolkata-class (Project 15A) of stealth destroyers at Defexpo. The Kolkata is likely to be handed over to the Indian Navy by the end of next month. With sea trials complete, the ship is currently in dry-dock, chairman of Mazagon Docks Ltd told my network colleague at the show last week. One of the most exciting shipbuilding efforts the country has ever undertaken.

    1. Dude it doesn't lack any weapons. Its loaded. Its a stealth ship. Hence it looks slightly domesticated. Its still a mean machine.

  1. Will meet same fate as the kukhri…indians are low grade morons they cannot handle hightech weapons. they lost half of the airforce in accidents and now the navy is on the same path..hahahaha.

    1. Madarchod bhadve ! Jake apni gaand bacha Paki-Satan me. Gandu kahi ka ! Chutiye 1971 yaad hai na ? Tab sirf 1/2 navy gayi thi Teri, Ab Teri gaand bhi jayegi ! Harami kahin ka !

  2. @anonymous 9.01a.m ,
Also remember what happened to PNS Ghazi . It also went down near Vizag .Accidents keep happening in a navy with occupied with huge responsibilities in IOR region and it is always an important learning curve. This thing has to be understood by dumbass morons like u . U can only buy north korean and chinese stuff which one knows might blow up on your face itself

  4. ^ It is not supposed to stealthy it incorporates features to reduce it radar composition. Wait till it commissions the stuff on deck look like personnel items. In terms of its superstructure it is cleaner than Chinese DDGs and nearly on par of Type 45 (which IMO has superior design when it comes to rear of the vessel compared to P-15A).

  5. all that it needs is a universal vertical launch system like mark 41 vls used by western nations…such systems give the vessel flexibility to adapt for various types of missions depending on the priorities….

  6. Yes we need more of them to safeguard blue waters round the subcontinent given growing footprints of china in the Indian ocean.

  7. india is making a poor attempt to imitate powerful western nations…. Kauwaa chalaa hans ki chaal aur apni chal bhi bhool gaya.

dude this is a frontline warship of the indian navy. they're not gonna let any charlie command a ship of this importance. the captain is gonna be an experienced expert navigator. also' for a ship of this size there will be a separate navigating officer. his duty will be to navigate while the captain wil oversee his operations. so im pretty sure….no fiasco.

the indian navy is one of the best in the world. both in terms of ships and quality of officers. and i can say that proudly as my father too is a member of this elite force. Khukri sunk dude to a torpedo hit. let me assure you that any ship of that size (missile corvette) will sink after a hit of that magnitude. i hop eyou know that our methods and procedures are so advanced that we are now proficient in giving training to specialist training to officers of foreign navies. dont underestimate the navy, unless you're a burned Paki in which case, best of luck dude, stay safe.

  11. India knows how to handle its weapons. I think the best example can be taken from the fate of PNS GAZHI in 1971 indo-pak war.
India has always proved its capabilities when needed and dont need any show off. INS is surely going to be a blue water navy because of 15 % increase in defence budget of india 2014-15. Our indigeenous sector has also started to build world class and state of the art ships like ships under project 15 and 17.

  12. Even british did not get success in ripping apart india then what is the might of china and pakistan.

India and its culture is immortal and can not be ripped of.

  14. yo porkistanis who are feeling jelous, might b afraid….with 4 f22 frigates and sm 5 british ones, and one us frigate…it stands to 9 …..compared to indias 2 aircraft carriers , 9 destroyers, 15 frigates, 25 corvettes…i think porkis should keep out of the post…we should not compare apples with apricots…;-)
