Why don't we put remote radio controlled gear on one of the prototype Tejas to render it unmanned and conduct a destructive test(test until destruction). The unmanned Tejas could flown in high-G turns in successive increments from 6G, 6.5G, 7G, 7.5G, 8G, 8.5G, 9G, 9.5G… until failure. Since it is a destructive test to begin with, there will be no negative publicity anyways and it is unmanned so no risk. Conduct the test in rajasthan over unpopulated area or over the sea.

One non-flying prototype is already put through a similar stress test on the ground. Since this test is conducted on the ground, the development team is able to collect much more data than would have been possible in-flight.

No idea about the exact outcome, but I guess it was successful. I was basically telling the previous poster that airframe stress are conducted on the ground rather than in the air because one can better analyze the results.

BTW… images of stress tests of the HAL Saras and Hansa are available at http://www.nal.res.in/pdf/allsadhanaposters.pdf

And all its going to remain as is a 3D image. Hope they can get this project moving and have the aircraft in operation after all the time and money spent developing it.
